An item on my bucket list: When I retire, I want to travel the world and build playgrounds. Or, if that isn’t physically possible, do something to help our youth.
Yesterday I got to experience building a playground right in my backyard here in Detroit, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the amazing folks at United Way for Southeastern Michigan, along with GMC, Detroit Lions, GameTime, Sinclair Recreation and more.
It was an amazing experience because I was able to see an otherwise abandoned piece of beautiful property in Detroit go from this…
Because that’s what happens when great organizations collaborate.
And that’s what happens when people volunteer and work together.
Yeah, that guy above? His name is Brandon Pettigrew and he’s one of the Detroit Lions…who happen to be 5-0. Woohoo!
Volunteering is a beautiful thing. Especially when it has major potential to bring some smiles to the lives of our little ones.
