Sisters N’ Stuff

The #1 question I’ve been asked since giving birth: How is big sister Kinley handling the new baby?

It’s almost unbelievable how well she’s doing. To say she is obsessed with her may be an understatement.

The moment she wakes, she asks “Where baby?” or “Where Ka-rem-a?”

So we go to where the baby is laying and she instantly insists on giving her kisses. And grabbing her hand. And petting her head.┬áThen the kissing cycle repeats after Kinley’s naptime.

Now, she is also into pretend nursing and patting her baby doll on the back to burp her, just like baby “Karema.”

Only downfall? She wants to pick her up and I’m afraid one day she just might.

Remind me to actually use those safety straps now…

How did your children react when you brought home baby?

  1. Sweet pictures! So glad that Kinley is adjusting well. I’m sure she’s a wonderful big sister!

  2. Aw, that’s sweet! My toddler was in love with his brother from the start, always kissing and touching him. He was a little vigorous with him in the beginning, and for a little while, acted out by hitting the baby on the head (ouch I know!). But he’s adjusted to having his baby brother and he loves him!

  3. They are so precious! I’m glad that she has adjusted so well to having a new baby in the house!

When I had Andrew the girls were head over heels in love with him and he was constantly being held by one of them!

  4. My oldest was 5 1/2 when we brought her sister home so she was a great helper with the baby.

Glad to see the two are getting along so well.

  5. So adorable! My kids have all been head over heals with the newest baby I have brought home. I was nervous when I had Logan because Kaleb was 2 and very, um, needy? But he’s been in love with his brother from the start. It completely melts me!

  6. Adorable :-) When my youngest was a newborn, the whole family was getting ready to go out somewhere. Baby was sleeping, so she was in the bassinet until the last minute. My 2-year old at the time was afraid we were going to leave baby sister at home, so she picked her up by the neck and tried to carry her to the door. I don’t think the baby even woke up, but it sure did scare the crud out of us!
