If you’ve been following me for awhile, you may know I love thrifting. First of all, clothing is just not something I place a lot of value on. Second, I prefer to spend our budget on things that matter to our family — adventures, good food, and vacations.
One super easy way to thrift is by shopping at Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores!
It takes patience to sift through items, but I always find it’s well worth the effort. I’ve scored the BEST stuff there, not just for my kids, but myself too!
Thrifting can easily be made more fun by heading out with girlfriends and hitting up multiple stores. Lucky for my southeast Michigan friends, there are 35 different locations in Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Wayne and Washtenaw Counties to serve us.
How To Score Back-To-School Savings at Salvation Army This Season
As the end of summer draws closer, there’s no better time to save money on fall fashion essentials for back-to-school. The Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores will hold its annual fall fashion sale on Friday, Aug. 9 and Saturday, Aug. 10.
All locations will be open regular hours on Friday, and open early at 7 a.m. on Saturday. Men’s, women’s and children’s clothes will be 50 percent off on both days. This means LOTS of savings!
On Saturday, the stores will hold two-hour sales offering 33 percent off select departments throughout the day.
Proceeds from all 35 metro Detroit Family Thrift Stores benefit The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan Adult Rehabilitation Center’s independently funded, 180-day residential rehabilitation program for men and women. Not only are you saving money when you shop at the “Sally,” but you’re also helping to change lives.
Clean Out Those Closets and DONATE!
As you start shopping for back-to school, keep in mind cleaning out those closets and donating whatever will not fit you or your child next year, too.
Donations of gently used clothing, linens, household appliances, furniture, toys, shoes, purses and housewares are accepted at all Salvation Army thrift store donation centers. There are safety reasons and other guidelines governing what can be resold. For this reason, The Salvation Army is not able to accept all donations.
