If you have a child that loves all things construction and big equipment, I have a fantastic charitable event to share with you: The Big Dig!
About The Big Dig
The Big Dig is a family-friendly event in which children will be able to operate heavy construction equipment and vehicles, while raising funds for pediatric cancer for the American Cancer Society. The inaugural event, presented by Michigan CAT and MacAllister Rentals, will be Saturday, July 27 from noon to 4 p.m. and will take place at 20300 Civic Center Drive in Southfield.
The event will bring together the construction community and children from across metro Detroit in support of ACS. Kids in attendance will have the opportunity to use working heavy machinery, including common construction equipment such as excavators, bulldozers and backhoes,
as well as emergency service vehicles.
The fair-like event will also host a variety of hands-on activities, crafts and entertainment for the whole family.
Tickets for children ages 2 and up cost $10 in advance or $13 at the door. Advance ticket purchases* include admission to the event, an event t-shirt, and a Carhartt hard hat. Those who purchase tickets onsite at the event will receive shirts and hats on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.mibigdig.org. *Tickets purchased after July 12th are not guaranteed an event t-shirt or hard hat. Giveaways may be limited and may vary. All giveaways will be distributed irst-come, first-served.
Pediatric cancer patients and their families are also invited to attend the event as guests for FREE. For information on how to claim complimentary tickets, email Leeann.Mcdowell@cancer.org.
Funds raised at the event will benefit the American Cancer Society’s work in pediatric cancer research. Currently ACS has more than $34 million invested in 66 childhood cancer research grants across the country.
