This year has rocked my socks off. It has been one of the most challenging, but by far the most rewarding years of my life. Since I partially started this blog as a way to reflect and journal about life, I thought it would only be appropriate to post some of the personal milestones from my year.
January: The return to work post-baby. Little K gets baptized, thus beginning her own spiritual journey.
February: Quit my job to stay home with baby. Not entirely sure what was going to happen, but I knew I did the right thing in my heart.
March: Found work freelance writing (from home) on a monthly basis. Learned how to maintain a budget.
April: Started a blog. Landed another awesome freelance gig.
May: K’s first trip to the zoo and her first time dipping her toes in sand (and lake water).
Nobody told her she should actually be awake to see the animals at the zoo.
June: Celebrated 3 years of marriage, my 27th birthday, and finally bought a DSLR camera after months of taking surveys and collecting change to save up for it.
July: Helped to host our first Detroit Bloggers meeting with my lovely co-founders Elena and Becks. Attended a good friend’s carnival-themed wedding.
August: Saw one of my bestest friends, Nikki, tie the knot and had the privilege to stand up for her on the big day.
September: Made a few trips to some of my favorite local cider mills. Watched another great friend tie the knot.
October: Celebrated my baby’s first birthday and a year filled with learning how to be a mom. Landed a new work-from-home job as a social media manager for small businesses. Accepted a new board position with Operation: Kid Equip, a local non-profit.
November: Took Little K to her first circus. Thanked my lucky stars for the many blessings in my life on Thanksgiving.
December: Enjoyed Little K’s second Christmas and a ton of family time.
With another year biting the dust, I’m already looking forward to what’s in store for 2012. Cheers to all – may you be granted more love, luck and sunshine in the new year!
With love,
~ Lauren
