One of my favorite things about Michigan is exploring the many historic downtowns we are blessed to have. One of my favorite downtowns to explore in the metro Detroit/Ann Arbor area is Milford, which is located in southwestern Oakland County.
The downtown is full of super cute boutiques and restaurants, and is also surrounded by a bike path, a beautiful river (rent canoes at Heavner’s!) and Kensington Metropark, a nature lover’s dream. It’s the perfect local destination for a family day out.
I received some information about a new event the downtown is hosting this weekend and it sounds like the perfect opportunity to get out and explore Milford…and hopefully get a great deal in the process!

Here’s the deets, from the press release:
As summer heats up, shoppers, music lovers and families will be delighted with the excitement of Oakland County’s newest celebration, downtown Milford’s Summer Palooza. Mark your calendars for this three-day event scheduled to run Friday-Sunday, July 13- 15, presented by the Milford Business Association and the Milford Downtown Development Authority.
Throughout the weekend, Main Street will be filled with shopping steals and amazing deals as the merchants of downtown Milford showcase their wares outside for sidewalk sales from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Participating retailers will offer deals up to 75 percent off on apparel, art, jewelry and home furnishing at downtown Milford’s shops.
While adults will snag bargains at approximately 40 participating stores, children can enjoy a variety of inflatable rides, face painting and more.
Adults 21 and older are also invited to visit the new Vegas tent, hosted by Cinco Lagos. Guests can try their hand with familiar games, such as Texas Hold ‘Em, Black Jack, Roulette and forms of poker. Cinco Lagos will also be providing beer and wine for tent patrons.
Milford restaurant Main Street Grill and Tavern will host a food and beer tent and will feature entertainment by popular local group The Duney Brothers Friday and Saturday night and Vinyl Underground during the day Saturday. Other local performers will provide weekend entertainment as well.
Patrons are also invited to stop into one of Milford’s delicious restaurants, including the recently opened Tavern 131, Tequilarita’s and The Blue Grill for an afternoon or evening snack.

- Friday Night Live, which happens at the Center Street Park gazebo from 7-9 p.m. every fourth Friday and features music and works by local artists.
- Milford Summer Concert Series in Central Park, at 7 p.m. Thursdays through August 23.

One of my favorite things to do is Cheeseburger Festival in Caseville!!
Mrs. Weber says
I SO need to do that! The question is – do you go with kids or without? Seems like it’s more of an adult thing, but I’m curious. I love anything that’s a tribute to Jimmy Buffett!
