Being a parent has its challenges every day. But couple those challenges with winter and it being so-cold-some-days-you-can’t-get-out? MEGA HARD.
Sure, I made a giant list of places to go, but sometimes you just want to stay inside. Lately, I’ve been wracking my brain with fun ideas that we can do inside because there have been some days I’ve thought I wouldn’t make it through the day sane.
So to beat the winter blues…
We’ve painted our nails, and applied our first-ever temporary tattoo.
We’ve had an indoor picnic.
We’ve done a TON of finger painting.
We’ve played dress up.
We’ve read every book in the house.
We’ve played our fair share of hide n’ seek.
I’ve taken a boatload of photos trying to work on my photography skills.
But mostly, we just have dancing and singing parties to keep our spirits up. And it usually ends the same way every.single.time…”Singing Ariel,” from The Little Mermaid. The girl loves her music. She’s truly my daughter!
Here’s hoping March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb!
How do you stay sane with kids during winter?
Oh, that video sure brings back the days of a busy toddler. Hang on, Lauren, spring will be here soon!
Thanks, Dianna! She is busy for sure. We’re very ready for warmer weather here in Michigan!
Oh man, it’s a challenge alright. We’ve been taking our kids to open tumble sessions at the gymnasium or the new trampoline gym in troy, but those places get expensive. On Saturdays I take my kids bumbling around downtown Ferndale and we visit the library and bakery for a treat. But that still leaves a lot of time where the kids are insane, bouncing off the walls.
Glad we’re not alone, Sven! We definitely go to the library at least once a week, and I’ll admit to going to Meijer to wander around just to wear out the toddler (we make her walk the store with us!). Thankfully daylight savings is next week — that will make an evening walk a tad more doable, just may need to bundle up! 🙂
I can’t wait for this winter to be done! It seems like it’s been the longest winter ever… I’m ready to be back outside! And Andrew is ready to get out there and play too!
