I am a runner. I may not run as far as I’d like, or as often as I’d like, but the fact is, I do run a few times a week for a couple miles at a time.
I am so thankful for my health. But there is something that is always in the back of my mind: What if I face an injury, or find my legs or knees start to fail me? How do we afford physical therapy since it likely wouldn’t be covered by my insurance?
I am so glad there are places like PT Choices to help people with physical therapy in the comfort of their own home — and at a fraction of the cost of traditional therapy.
When I heard about this concept from founder and former athlete Mike Mills, I was excited. I don’t know about you all, but the last thing I enjoy doing is trying to find time to make doctors appointments work between needing a babysitter and avoiding nap time. Also, with my being techy, why wouldn’t I want to take advantage of this alternative method?
PT Choices allows individuals to take control of their rehabilitation, whether it’s post-surgery, or after suffering a sports injury. The program offers client subscribers with 4 supplemental rehabilitation plans ranging from free (for limited services) to an affordable $175 per month (for face-to-face sessions). Compared to the out-of-pocket expenses for traditional physical therapy services of $55-$300 per session, the plans can help save a ton of moula.
With the revolutionary virtual system and services, PT Choices provides an online portal that allows you to gain access to and connect with licensed physical therapists, and allows you the flexibility to do therapy when you can make the time.
Here’s just one example of a video that could work for your customized plan:
With the program, you can choose your physical therapist based on their specialty, schedule, ratings or reviews. Additionally, you have support of your physical therapist for as long as you decide — insurance will no longer be in control of when you must stop treatment.
By making access to physical therapists more affordable, convenient and flexible, the team at PT Choices is sure to serve more patients and give them the individualized care they deserve in the comfort of their own home.
It’s nice to have choices when it comes to physical therapy, huh?

Have you had to go through physical therapy before? Would this virtual program interest you?
I’m a runner, too and ended up in PT due to a running-related injury – it helped me a lot! I was lucky that my insurance covered my visits.
That’s amazing you’re training for a half marathon! I’m just still working on possibly doing a 10K, so maybe one day I’ll be able to run with you 😉 I hope I never face an injury…recovery would not be fun.
You can totally do a 10K! I am using a very gradual (17 weeks) training plan and have come to accept that I probably will have to walk part of the HM (even though I reeeeally don’t want to!).
