We’ve hit a new level of fun in our house: I now have a child that LOVES to create. This makes my heart so happy!
Over the years, many people have told me I should have been a kindergarten teacher. While I think that’s sweet, I secretly know I say too many inappropriate things for that ever to happen. BUT, that whole crafty thing that elementary school teachers are so good at? I CRAVE it. I love me some arts n’ crafts. So, I thought I’d start sharing our very SIMPLE projects with all of you. I’m all about inspiring fellow parents to let their kids explore and get dirty 😉
Here are three fall crafts for preschoolers that have been a blast with my little lady, who turns three next week:
Paper Jack-O-Lanterns
We all know kids love jack-o-lanterns, right? For this project, I just cut out a pumpkin and different shaped pieces so Kinley could practice glueing. She loved being able to pick out the eyes, nose and mouth herself. After, she went to town coloring it with crayons. She was so excited to show daddy her new artwork on the fridge when he got home!
Even little sis could get involved. Though I’m more convinced she just liked trying to see how many crayons she could hold at once!
“Fluffy” Bats
For this project, simply combine equal parts of Elmer’s glue and shaving cream {I used Barbasol because I love the smell} to make a puffy paint that dries fuzzy. I just made a bat cut-out {or a “bap” in K’s words} and let her make him “fuzzy” with her color choice — a light purple {just red+blue food coloring}.
She loved the texture! OK, so did I. We may have painted our workspace after too!
This is intense! It requires standing on the chair apparently!
Pure joy.
Fall Tree
We’ve been discussing fall and the leaves changing color a lot thanks to some great library books. I loved this craft I spotted on Pinterest. Use wine corks to make leaves on the tree with finger paint {I drew the tree}. Kinley had fun making a sun, sky and grass too. I love the finished project too — it’s like getting new artwork for the house! And lord knows I have plenty of wine corks around the house 😉
Everything looks so cute and fall-ish on our fridge, don’t you think?

What great crafts! I will have to remember these next week after Andrew gets his tonsils out…. I need activities to keep him calm for a week!

Thanks for sharing! I like the idea of using wine bottle corks for painting the trees. It gives a nice varied look to the “stamp”.
Scentsy says
One Word of Caution: While you won’t have the worry of a flickering flame, the melted wax
in the upper bowl is warm (not hot) and a spill would make a mess,
so keep it out of reach of little fingers. Burning candles is found to also release
particles into the air that can pollute our homes.
This also makes using a Scentsy warmer very cost effective.
