Something I am very passionate about is the arts — especially drama. Growing up, I did several musicals and have such fond memories of my theatre friends and family. Broadway wasn’t my calling, but the life lessons and confidence I gained participating in my local community theatre were invaluable.
I believe it is crucial to expose my children to the theatre world — whether it be through participating, or just simply attending and admiring the thousands of hours of hard work showcased.
For about the price of a movie ticket, you can watch a production at a local community theatre. I love having the excuse to dress-up and see an imaginative world brought to life on stage.
Many community theatres also do children’s productions throughout the year, which is perfect for entertaining and inspiring little ones. Nothing beats a stage show!
The following community theatre locations in Southeast Michigan can bring your family entertainment, or may be the perfect excuse to plan a date night out. Make sure to follow the theatre nearest you on Facebook and get on their email lists so you can be in the loop with upcoming productions. Also, always be sure to check your local schools for productions as well.

There are two additional groups in Oakland County, Pontiac Theatre IV in Pontiac and Lakeland Players in Waterford.
Dexter community players, Chelsea area players, and the purple rose theatre are all in washtenaw county as well.
And for anyone traveling into gratiot county there is the gratiot county players in alma mi and friends of the Broadway theatre in mount pleasant 🙂
Mount pleasant is Isabella county… Forgot to mention that in the post.
I knew Dexter had TWO!! (My nephew has been involved in both, though he’s currently dual majoring in Education and Theater at EMU!)

My daughter Leah is in Frozen Jr at Warren Civic Theatre in March. My daughter Cana is in Matilda at Warren Civic Theatre in May. It is truly my second home.
Love this page and I check it often to see if there are any shows I would like to audition for or go see. One recommended update. Spotlight Players of Canton has a better website than the Facebook provided link. That website is spotlightplayersmi.org. Similar to many of the other links, this is the theatre page which is has more information and updates than the Facebook page.
Also, the other Spotlight group listed for Canton is Spotlight on Youth Players, not “Your” as listed.
