Maybe I am a little bias since my in-laws live on a farm, but I think each and every child deserves the opportunity to visit a farm and see where their food comes from. That’s why I am in love with the Breakfast On The Farm 2014 events {a Michigan State University Extension Program} that take place every year in Michigan! Best of all, they are FREE.
I was just informed of this years events and their locations. Here they are:
July 19: Calhoun County Breakfast on the Farm hosted by Crandall Dairy Farms LLC, Battle Creek, Mich.
August 16: Mecosta County Breakfast on the Farm hosted by De Grins Oer Dairy Farm, Blanchard, Mich.
September 6: Washtenaw County Breakfast on the Farm hosted by Uphaus Farms, Manchester, Mich.
Breakfast on the Farm (BOTF) gives consumers and farm neighbors a first-hand look at modern food production, and the farm families who work hard to produce a safe, wholesome food supply for Michigan communities and the world.~ BreakfastOnTheFarm.com

And I just had to share…This is one of my favorite photos of Kinley when she was little. Just hanging out at grandma and grandpa’s farm with a couple of their cows!

These sound like awesome events! I wish they were closer to me (Detroit). I really like the MSU Extension and worked with them during my dietetic internship a bit.
