I received free admission to Castaway Play in exchange for a review. The opinions expressed are my own.
I’m hearing it in all the mom circles: Those of us with little ones are starting to get stir crazy. So what to do when temps are dipping, and your kid has endless energy?
Enter Castaway Play, dubbed a Family Entertainment Destination. And, entertaining it is!
Castaway Play is a short distance off the M-59 exit {from I-96}, right up the road from the Tanger Outlets in Howell, Mich. {Also, across from the Livingston Antique Outlet — one of my favorite places to visit when I can shop solo!}
We visited last Sunday after stewing over where we wanted to go for some time. We needed out of the house – period – and the kids needed to burn some energy. Castaway Play was exactly what we needed.
The location has been in Howell for quite some time, but there were awesome improvements we saw versus the last time we visited. We arrived right when they opened {which is 11 a.m. on Sundays} and were greeted by the friendly staff. We signed a waiver, and off we went to explore and play.
There were lots of tables where we could place our things, so we claimed a space of our own with no troubles. My kids immediately got the biggest grins on their faces and started climbing into all the structures.
The thing I noticed first? Big, comfy leather couches surrounding the perimeter — perfect for parents to relax while the kiddos play. These were amazing as a nursing mama! So nice to be super comfortable while feeding my baby.
Michigan’s largest indoor structure, complete with 5 levels of soft play!
My little gal loved the toddler area {for 3 and under} especially since they could easily go up and down the slide several times. Every lap they did brought me closer to thinking they would nap…{and they actually both did for once}!
I also loved that the admission included the bounce houses. My girls loved the giant inflatable slide and castle house. They also sat in a variety of coin-operated cars and loved it.
I felt like everything was very clean, which is a big deal to me since I have an infant and we’re in peak flu season. Either way, the husband and I agreed it was very well kept up considering how many children visit daily. I also loved that there were hand sanitizing stations throughout. We hit those up for sure!
Not gonna lie…The slide was FUN! Just watch out — it goes pretty fast 😉
From there we checked out the arcade, which the 2-year-old thought was SO cool. She had fun checking out all the games…Even though we didn’t pop any quarters in. I’m not looking forward to the day she can read “insert coins.” LOL.
After we worked up an appetite, we decided to order some food. They had a lot of options, including wraps, salads, burgers, nachos, coffee and more. I would have liked to opt for a salad, but once the girls saw pizza, there was no turning back. I know it sounds crazy, but the pizza was SUPER tasty! I expected the flavorless variety, but it definitely hit the spot, and we all gobbled it up. I thought the prices were pretty fair, too. {$14 for an XL cheese pizza, $1 for juices and bottled water and wraps were mostly $7.99}. You can view the menu online here.
Note: You cannot bring in your own food, so plan accordingly.
As mentioned above, Castaway also has Laser Tag, a fun Atomic Rush game, a Create-a-Pal area {think Build-A-Bear style}, and more. They can also host birthday parties in a private room.
All in all, Castaway Play is pretty much a kid’s heaven. I know my 2 and 4-year-old girls are already looking forward to returning. I’m thinking I will send the hubby in next time while I go shopping across the street… 😉
