As a company that’s committed to helping others lead healthy lifestyles, Michigan-based Absopure is actively involved in the local running community and supports races throughout the state. As the official water sponsor of Running Fit, Absopure has provided me with two registrations to the upcoming Hightail to Ale 5K—the first stop in the brand new Thirsty 3 series.
I am super excited to share that my husband and I are down a combined total of 50 pounds since the beginning of the year!!! The question we keep getting: “What’s your secret?”
Friends, there are no secrets. No fad diets. No crazy painful workout routine. Just better foods, portion control and exercise. Who knew?! 😉
Our preferred form of exercise is running. I know it sounds crazy to many people, but honestly, it’s the best. We love the endorphins it releases, and it’s convenient for us as parents to little ones since we can do it outside in our neighborhood after putting kids to bed. Additionally, it’s the perfect excuse for a guilt-free date!
We recently got up at the crack of dawn to run the 5K and 10K with the Ann Arbor Marathon. It was super fun, and an awesome excuse to spend some time together.
With spring and summer on the horizon, we are starting to look at some races to keep us motivated to meet our goals {mine is another 10K, his is a half marathon}. I am excited to check out some of these races my friends from Absopure has sent me as part of their partnership with Running Fit.

The first race the husband and I have signed up for is the Hightail to Ale 5K, which is coming up on May 15, 2015 and is dubbed at a “Keg party with a 5K warm-up.” Someone out there knows the real reason I run…To drink beer! I love that this one starts at Atwater Brewery and goes along the beautiful Detroit Riverfront at prime sunset time. Also? AMAZING SWAG. A T-shirt, finisher medals and a pint glass. Sweet! And of course, beer…After a few bottles of Absopure water 😉
Online registration closes on May 13, so register before it sells out –> http://hightailtoale.com

Sarah Frame says
I really appreciated this guide to spring races. My husband and I have two little ones ( 3yrs and 15 months) and have recently joined Weight Watchers to look and feel better. Races like this are a great goal for us to aspire to as we get more fit, and nice to see Metro Detroit has so many options. Impressed by your combined weight loss as well!

Thanks so much, Sarah! Running really is a great option for busy parents. It feels daunting at first, but I have been amazed at how much I like it…Mostly because it’s the only ‘me time’ I ever get 😉 Best of luck with your journey to better health! WW is an amazing program!
