It’s no secret — I love Meijer, and for good reason! Their incredible produce selection and the simple-to-use mPerks program get major bonus points, but what else keeps me shopping there weekly? Let me count the ways…

FREE cookie for kids under 12. You heard me right! Just visit the bakery and ask for a cookie — it’s that simple. If my kids behave well during our trip, before we head to the registers to cash out, we swing by the bakery for a little treat. Bonus too because this keeps them focused and happy in the checkout lane where candy lurks!

Killer produce. The Meijer produce section is beautiful, and by far the freshest compared to competitors. This area of the store is what has made me a loyal shopper for many years. I like that I can find most anything I need — from leeks and watercress to bok choy — and many items with organic options, too.

Pro Tip: Many Meijer locations also offer a healthier alternative to cookies while shopping with tots in tow — fresh produce, for a quarter donation to a great cause.

Fantastic clothing and shoe department clearance items. It’s always worth a quick cruise through the clothing and shoe departments to scope out sales. They often have items with extra savings offered on top of the clearance prices, especially at the end of a season. I often buy things a year ahead of time for my kids this way. {We love the Falls Creek brand!}

Buying wine in bulk is an easy way to save. At Meijer, when you buy 4 or more bottles of wine, you automatically get a 10% discount. So when your favorite bottles are on sale, stock up!

There are many FREE antibiotics and vitamins in the pharmacy. It’s sick season, and we all know what those doctor visits land us with — antibiotics — sometimes for the whole family. Before popping into the pharmacy, make sure to clip your pharmacy rewards located under personalized rewards in mPerks, to easily earn money off a future bill by accruing prescriptions.

There are great register coupons {ak.a. Catalina offers}. Before you leave the store, shuffle through the coupons that come with your receipt. Occasionally, I will get some really great offers there, including $ off of a future trip. Always read them carefully so you don’t miss out!

Frequent 5-15% off coupons for groceries and general merchandise. I keep a list of general things we’d like but aren’t immediate needs, and buy them when mPerks releases a 5% off groceries and 10% of general merchandise offer. {i.e. pet food, birthday presents and household items} These offers tend to be just about once a month, and happen on a Friday and Saturday typically. It’s an easy way to save on those items that rarely go on sale.

It’s easy to match savings with the help of local bloggers. Before I shop, I take a peek at the ad and see if there are some recipes I can make with what’s on sale, and then look for additional coupons or matches with mPerks.
