maurices provided me with a gift card for this post. All opinions expressed and trends spotted are my own.
I recently had the opportunity to spend some alone time shopping and trend spotting at the Brighton area’s place for fashion: Green Oak Village Place.
I took some time to walk around to a few stores and see what they are cookin’ up for spring. As a busy mom to 3, I love things that are a little funky and trendy, but that work for me as a mom who has the luxury {at times!} to work from home. I found plenty of fresh, casual, and functional duds.
Here’s what trends I spotted:
J.Jill
When walking into J.Jill, the first thing that struck me was the colors — warm pastels that made me crave the beach and warmer temps. I fell in love with a rack of scarves in perfect pastels instantly, and couldn’t help myself — I had to touch the fabrics throughout. Everything was so soft and stretchy!
When asking the sales associate what was hot for spring, she pointed out the stores’ featured colors: lavender, shrimp and pomelo {a pretty light green}, among others. The most popular items are their ‘Perfect Fit’ pants that are dressy looking, but have a comfortable waist band. Sign me up!
Everything I tried on was SO comfortable, and for good reason — cotton and linen are the store’s main fabric choices. Here’s a more casual ensemble we put together:
Oh my! It was so comfortable, it felt like I was wearing pajamas. I may have to go back for the cropped jeans — they were amazing. I also loved that most of the tops in the store were longer.
Another added perk of shopping at J.Jill is if they don’t have your size, they will ship it to you free of charge.
Chico’s
When I walked into Chico’s, I immediately felt like I was being called to the Caribbean. The entryway chandelier, as well as the colors throughout the store were bright and cheerful, with bright kiwi and aqua drawing my eye in the most.
The trends featured throughout the store including a bit of fringe, bright-colored peasant-style shirts and “cold shoulders” — blouses with the shoulders cut-out, which store manager Donna assured me it was the season’s biggest trend. At first, I was sure what I thought of them, then I tried on this dress, and kind of fell in love! I will definitely be working this style into my spring wardrobe.
I also loved learning about Chico’s unique sizing. They have sizes 0-3 — the 0 being like sizes 4-6, 1 being like sizes 8-10, 3 being like 12-14, and so on. For the first time in MANY years, I can say I fit into a size 0 dress, which made me feel good 😉
Their signature style is animal print, which is SO fun too!
maurices
maurices will be opening in Green Oak Village Place on April 22, 2016. The sign is up, and grand opening activities will be announced soon.
I’ve been shopping at maurices since I was a teen {the store is celebrating its 85th birthday this year}, and absolutely love their styles. As I’ve aged, I’ve grown to truly appreciate the wide assortment they carry, from work-appropriate clothing to trendy styles and athletic items. It truly is a one-stop shop for an outfit, shoes and accessories. Additionally, I love that they carry items in sizes 0-24. It’s my belief women of ALL sizes deserve to be stylish!
Spring trends at this store include pretty pastels, more cold shoulder tops, as well as flowy dresses and colorful leggings. Instead of shopping in-store, I did a little online shopping to gear up for the store’s opening.
This is one outfit I would totally rock out in:
