I received a free meal at Punch Bowl Social Detroit in exchange for this post. All opinions expressed belong to me.
I recently visited Punch Bowl Social Detroit for the first time with some fellow bloggers and had a blast. Two things came to mind before I visited: 1. It’s supposed to be family friendly. but is it really? 2. Do they really serve punch? Because I love a good {spiked} punch.
I was pretty excited to learn that both questions were very much true.
To my surprise, I learned Punch Bowl Social is actually a small chain with concepts in various hip U.S. cities. They dub themselves as “Eatertainment” – a hybrid of fun and food. My kinda place!
Punch Bowl Social specializes in old school arcade games including REAL darts, table top shuffleboard {my personal favorite for date nights}, fooseball, pinball and more. Fun for adults, but great for kids/teens too while you wait for your meal to be delivered. Each game is played by the hour and fees run from $3-$10.
The menu has a nice variety of bar-like eats combined with unique items like cauliflower nachos {surprisingly delicious} and chicken and waffles topped with chipotle pecan maple syrup and candied walnuts {my personal favorite}. Even the gluten-free gals in our group found plenty to nosh on. I found the prices to be on-par for what I would expect at this type of establishment — a tad on the pricier end, but not over what you would find at any generic chain restaurant.
The drink menu was definitely what sparkled the most to me. Lots of craft cocktails, but for the non-drinkers, there are plenty of juices and sodas with a unique flair as well. And punch is available for groups! Non-spiked versions for kid birthday parties of course 😉
I loved the atmosphere — it definitely had a hip yet vintage-y vibe that is attractive to youth or the young at heart. This is definitely a place where I could spend some time with friends or even my kiddos in a few years.
I especially look forward to returning to bowl and do karaoke. You can rent a private room for $25/hour for 1-5 people, or $35/hour for up to 10 so you can karaoke your little heart out and not worry about being judged. How fun would that be for a girl’s night or a birthday party for teens?
The space has two alleys — one for the public, and the other for private parties, which they do often. Bowling is done by the hour and is $5 during the day and $7 on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
Punch Bowl Social Detroit is located at 1331 Broadway St. in downtown Detroit. There is easy parking available at the Z Garage directly behind the building. Make sure to walk around too because the alley behind the building is amazing and full of inspiring graffiti art.
Overall, I recommend Punch Bowl Social for those who enjoy having a great time while on a date or with friends, or even for the older kids/teens in your life. Visit and have a ball!

I’ve planned a few corporate events at Punch Bowl Social, and they’ve always been a hit. The karaoke room is my absolute favorite. I have also been to the Portland PBS location after a conference, and while it’s got the same type of menu and feel, I prefer the Detroit location. I like that there is something for everyone, especially since I’m a non-drinker.
