This week my oldest started kindergarten. To say it has been an adjustment would be an understatement. The truth is, it has shaken our house up a bit, but not all in a negative way necessarily. It’s just…different.
One positive is that it has given me time to focus on my 4-year-old, Karina, when my little guy goes down for his nap. I’ve learned that just taking 30 minutes with her can go a long way. Each day, I plan an activity just for the two of us. Her favorites include baking cookies, drawing and playing games together.
As a preschooler, she is beginning to understand concepts, but at times struggles with the whole “winning” aspect of games, so they can be tough as she learns.
Enter Peaceable Kingdom games. Their mantra is “We create games & gifts that inspire cooperation & cultivate kindness – kids that play well together play well in the world!”
Pretty sweet, right?! Cooperative games enable players to win or lose as a team, which builds resilience and strengthens friendships, or in my case — trust with my little gal. She really enjoys working together toward a common goal.
I discovered this company when my sister-in-law bought us the game Count Your Chickens. I love that it encourages teamwork and is fantastic for counting practice. I wanted to know more about the company, so I started researching and discovered how amazing they are.
We recently tried two really fun games from Peaceable Kingdom and I want to share them with you:
ABOUT FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS {The Helping Game}
Ages 3+ | 1-4 players
This game is a social and emotional matching game that teaches compassion and empathy.
Can players help a little girl who’s sad because she’s standing out in the rain or a boy who’s afraid of the dark? Reach into the Helping Bag and Pull our a token – can it help someone on the game board? If so, it’s a match!
As a mom who is always looking for ways to teach empathy {a core value for our home}, I adored the concept. Karina loved it too! The bright pictures and simplicity of it was perfect for her. It also is ideal for shorter attention spans since a game only took us about 10 minutes to play. Additionally, it teaches:
- How to recognize and name emotions
- What it feels like to be a helper
- Cooperation

ABOUT FEED THE WOOZLE
Ages 3-6 | 2-5 players
Feed the Woozle is a cooperative game where players feed the Woozle 12 silly snacks from the spoon before all the snacks are gone.
I LOVE this concept because there are various levels based on your child’s skills {i.e. for bigger kids you can blindfold them to make it more challenging}.
Karina laughed a ton at the silly snacks, which included things like chocolate-covered flies, hairy pickles and a toenail sandwich.
This is going to be my new go-to game for preschool-aged birthdays and Christmas presents. It’s so cute and easy for kids to grasp, all the while it helps with:
- Body awareness
- Balance
- Fine and gross motor skills
- Counting
