I’ve spoken many times about the 4-gift concept for Christmas:
- Something they want
- Something they need
- Something to wear
- Something to read
This is something I try to tackle each year in our home. The kids are thrilled to get a couple things they would like, and I am thrilled to not get things we just don’t need.
But there is one thing I will never deny someone getting for us: BOOKS! Seriously, there are so many great children’s books out there. And since we read to our children daily, it’s so great to have a variety so we are able to change it up, especially in between library runs.
At Christmas, I love thinking about which book each of my children would love most. This year, I’ve teamed up with Put Me In The Story for a personalized book for each of my littles. I just know they are going to LOVE them!
Here are the ones I’ve chosen for them:
Each December, our Elf on the Shelf, Trixie, delivers 12 Christmas books to countdown to the big day. This year, the first book she will be delivering will be the one pictured above, Can You Help An Elf?, which I’ve customized for our family.

I am hopeful this will really help to bring a little magic to the season!
For my 2-year-old, I chose Don’t Push The Button!. If you’ve never read this one, it’s seriously one of the BEST toddler books ever written. I just know my little guy is going to get a kick out of it.
…and I had some fun writing a special message for my little button pusher!

For my 4-year-old, I chose a super hero book because she loves all things action-packed. I know she’s going to love the pictures in this one and hearing the sound of her name incorporated throughout.
Info: Marvel’s The Avengers
For my 6-year-old, I chose an educational book. She loves learning facts and has recently started becoming more curious about space. I love all the National Geographic books, and I know she will enjoy how each question throughout is directed at her.

I look forward to having special reading time with each of my children with these books, and just know they will love finding them under the tree this year.
