When things like opportunities to taste test new flavors of ice cream come across my email inbox, I have no choice but to say YES. My ice cream addict children deserve it. And gosh darn it, so do I 😉
I’ve written about Hudsonville Ice Cream plenty of times before — it’s my favorite ice cream brand for many reasons. First of all, it’s SO good. Second, it’s made right here in Michigan and they use locally-sourced ingredients, like fresh milk and cream from local dairy farms, to make their artisan-crafted ice cream. Third, their line of flavors are creative and always changing, which keeps me loyal — and interested.
The newest additions for spring are no exception. As I started to read the descriptions, my family started drooling and predicting which would be our favorite flavor.
We invited our neighbors over to sample the new flavors, plus the current limited edition flavor — Winter Campfire. It was a pretty even mix on what everyone liked best.
These will be available in stores very soon, so be on the lookout!
Bananas Foster
Description: Banana flavored ice cream with a caramelized banana ribbon and vanilla wafers.
Peanut Butter Cheesecake
Description: Peanut butter cheesecake ice cream with a peanut butter cookie ribbon and chocolate flakes.
Peanut Butter Pretzel
Description: Chocolate ice cream with a peanut butter swirl and chocolate caramel-coated pretzel balls.
Winter Campfire {Now Available in Stores!}
Description: Marshmallow flavored ice cream with graham cracker pieces and a thick chocolate swirl.
{To go along with this limited flavor, visit Hudsonville’s Facebook to enter to win ice cream for a YEAR, plus a stay at The Grand Hotel! Detail here.}
Consensus
The kids seemed to prefer Bananas Foster {they all said it tastes like bubble gum – ha!} and Peanut Butter Pretzel, while the adults really enjoyed Peanut Butter Cheesecake. And everyone really raved about Winter Campfire too — something about marshmallow ice cream is just plain delicious!
When the new flavors are released, I totally urge you to have a tasting party to see which you like best — it’s the perfect excuse to gather with friends or make a playdate more fun.
Storage Tip
When storing ice cream, place the tub upside down. This will help keep it freshly causing the melted ice cream to drip onto the lid where it has less chance of ruining the still-cold portion. Wrap with wax paper before replacing the lid as well for even better storage.
I tend to keep ours in our top drawer of the freezer since it tends to get less exposure to air as well.
