I may be a little bias since it’s the month of my birth, but June is the best month. Not too hot, not too cold; not too rainy. Everything is in bloom and beautiful. Also? There is TONS to do. Lots of live music, the start of carnival season, farmers markets, and plenty of FREE kid fun.

June 2017 Family Fun in Southeast Michigan
June 1-4 — Birmingham Village Fair {Birmingham} — Visit the fair in Shain Park for carnival rides, games and food. Admission to the fair is free and ride vouchers and tickets are available for purchase.
June 2 — Touch a Truck at Drake Sports {West Bloomfield} — From 6-9 p.m., kids can get a firsthand look at police, fire, construction, trash and all the really cool work vehicles we see every day, but don’t get the chance to touch. Several food trucks will also be on site. $5/car.
June 2 — First Friday at the Farm {Ann Arbor} — Visit The Petting Farm at Domino’s Farms from 5-8 p.m. for some delicious food trucks and fun activities throughout the farm. $6/per person; free for children 23 months and younger.
June 2 – Free Admission to Cranbrook Institute of Science {Bloomfield Hills} — Visit after 5 p.m. the first Friday of every month, courtesy of the MASCO Corporation, for FREE.
June 2-4 – Hudson Mills Old Power Club Antique Gas Engine & Tractor Show {Fowlerville} – Kid’s pedal pull, kiddie train, flea market, mini-horses, tractor pulls and more. FREE to attend.
June 3 — Rochester Police Department Open House {Rochester} — Visit the RPD from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. for station tours, K-9 demos, bike safety and more. FREE.
June 3 — Home Depot Kids Workshop {Nationwide} — Come learn how to build a tic tac toe game! FREE hands-on workshops; designed for children ages 5 – 12, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. All kid get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. Register online in advance.
June 3 — Milford Township Parks & Rec Spring Picnic {Milford} — Pony rides, face painting, canoeing and more in Central Park from 4-7 p.m. FREE.
June 3 – Kaleidoscope FREE Family Fun Day at Crossroads Village {Flint} – Gather your whole family for free fun, including fun with dogs, crafts, and more from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Tickets for a ride on the Huckleberry Railroad will be a special one-day price of $4.75 per person.
June 3 — Michael’s Kid Club {Nationwide} — Drop into a Michael’s Craft Store and take home a completed project! Just $2 per child for 30 minutes of creative craft fun, including supplies. 10 a.m. – noon. Ages 3 and up. This day’s project is Sprout flip book.
June 3 – Touch-A-Truck {Fenton} – Explore fire trucks, police cars and other vehicles. 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. FREE.
June 3 — Chalk of the Town {Lansing} — Get ready for a day of vibrant art and fun in the streets of Old Town. Beginning at 9 a.m., artists will take to the streets creating masterpieces on their assigned piece of sidewalk, using only chalk. Visitors to this event will be allowed to vote for the People’s Choice winner and winners will be announced at 3 p.m. 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. FREE.
June 3 — Be A Tourist In Your Own Town {Lansing} – Created by the Greater Lansing Convention & Visitors Bureau, this day allows event participants to visit more than 70 local attractions such as Impression 5 Science Center, Potter Park Zoo, the State Capitol Building, the Michigan Historical Museum and more with a “passport” that costs $1!
June 3 — Families at The Broad {East Lansing} — Visit this East Lansing modern art museum from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. for hands-on activities and a family guided tour at 1 p.m. FREE thanks to Farm Bureau.
June 3-4 — Pinckney’s Art in the Park {Pinckney} — This iconic event brings over 15,000 spectators into Putnam Township Square for two days of art, entertainment, food and more. FREE.
June 3-4 – Lyon Township Kite Festival {New Hudson} – Visit James Atchinson Park for kite demos, live entertainment, crafts, bounce houses, petting zoo, face painting and more. FREE.
June 3, 10, 17, 24 — FREE Day at the Flint Institute of Art {Flint} — This museum is FREE to visit every Saturday thanks to Huntington.
June 6 — Royal Oak City Wide Block Party {Royal Oak} — Visit the Royal Oak Farmers Market from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. for food trucks, fire trucks, police cars, games for kids and more. FREE.
June 6 – July 4 — Ann Arbor Summer Festival {Ann Arbor} — More than 140 live performances, a kid’s zone and more. Costs vary, depending on the act.
June 6-7 — FREE LEGO® Mini Model Build {Nationwide} — Visit your local LEGO Store to learn how to build a cool mini model, and take it home – for free! June’s project is a LEGO dragonfly. Quantities are limited and offer is good while supplies last only. One per child. Event is open to children ages 6-14 only. FREE.
June 10 — Ladybug Giveaway at English Gardens — Visit English Gardens locations for a FREE bag of 150 ladybugs with any purchase. This is a great way to get kids interested in gardening!
June 10 — Michaels Kid Club {Nationwide} — Drop into a Michael’s Craft Store and take home a completed project! Just $2 per child for 30 minutes of creative craft fun, including supplies. 10 a.m. – noon. Ages 3 and up. This day’s project is a Play-Doh ice cream cone.
June 10 — Get Outdoors Day at Greenfield Village {Dearborn} — Join our historic forest ranger for a day of one-of-a-kind outdoor activities such as hikes, barn tours and a hands-on exploration of our environment. For all ages. Activities are free for members or included with paid admission to Greenfield Village.
June 10 — Shopkins Swap-Kins Party at Toys R’ Us {Nationwide} — Celebrate the launch of the newest season of Shopkins, World Vacation, at your local Toys R Us! There will be tons of fun, including a Happy Places S2 Delivery Pack, activity sheets, a Shopkins Swapkins Trading Tray, and more. FREE.
June 10 — Bryson as Elvis Birthday Bash for Charity {Howell} — Visit the Historic Howell Theatre to see Bryson Vines {Elvis}, Colin Dexter {Elvis} & Matthew Wetmore {Johnny Cash} performing charity concert for Mott Children’s Hospital pediatric cancer support. Tickets are $5.
June 10-11 — FREE Fishing Weekend {Statewide} — LOTS of events here!
June 10-11 — Flint Air Fair {Flint} – Browse and shop from more than 150 artists and craftspeople featuring original art, pottery, jewelry, clothing and more. Also, enjoy live music, food and children activities. FREE to attend.
June 10-11 — Marion Township Heritage Days {Howell} — Visit the Marion Township offices for a day loaded with fun! Events include steam engines and old tractors with plowing demos, chain saw carvers, animal displays, kid’s activities, a peddler’s market, food vendors and entertainment. FREE.
June 11 — White Lake Township Police Department Open House {White Lake} — Visit the department from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. for station tours, food, face painting, and plenty more. FREE.
June 11 — Summer Sundays at Upland Hills Farm {Oxford} — Enjoy farm animals, hayrides, pony rides and more and enjoy a day at the farm. 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. $9/person.
June 13 — Great Start Livingston Parent Coalition Meeting {Howell} — Parents with children, ages 0-8 in Livingston County can visit LESA for FREE parenting tips and childcare. The topic is “The Importance of Outdoor Play” and takes place 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. RSVP to SarahSmith@LivingstonESA.org to reserve a spot. Free food and a gift for all attendees!

June 14-17 — Hamburg Family Fun Fest {Hamburg} – Attractions include amusement rides, food, a petting zoo, bounce houses, a children’s craft tent, magic shows, a dinosaur adventure and tons more. Parking is $5.
June 15 — Hamburg Family Fun Fest Touch-A-Truck {Hamburg} — This hands-on family event provides a unique opportunity for children and adults alike to explore vehicles of all types including public service, emergency, utility, construction, landscaping, transportation, and delivery – all in one place! 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. FREE.
June 16 — School’s Out Bash at SkyZone {Metro Detroit Locations} — Visit SkyZone for jumping for a great cause. First timers can jump for just $4.99, plus there will be plenty of other family fun, $1 pizza slices and more.
June 16-18 — The Belleville National Strawberry Festival {Belleville} – Two Midways, a beer tent, music and concerts, bingo, crafters, magnificent food, strawberry treats, a children’s area and parade with more than 150 floats are some of the highlights. FREE entry.
June 20 — Great Start Livingston Summer Playground Playdates {Fowlerville} — Join Great Start and local families for fun in the sun and socializing. Open to Livingston County residents and children, ages 0-8. 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Fowlerville Community Park.
June 20-25 – Livonia Spree {Livonia} – Livonia Spree has something for everyone: delicious food; great live music; a family carnival; and fireworks on Sunday night. FREE to attend, costs for rides and food.

June 23-25 – Michigan Challenge Balloonfest {Howell} – Mass launches of 40+ hot air balloons, including a nighttime glow, a midway carnival, craft booths and more. FREE to attend; parking fees.
June 23-25 – Detroit River Days {Detroit} – Tall ships, riverboat tours, musical performances, sand sculptures and more. FREE.
June 24 — Tons O Trucks & Wheeled Wonders {Macomb} — See and interact with more than 50 vehicles at this popular event. 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. FREE.
June 24 — FREE Breakfast on the Farm {Marne} — This is near Grand Rapids, but may be a fun excuse for a mini road trip!
June 24-25 — Sloan Museum Auto Fair {Flint} — For two days, the Flint Cultural Center Campus becomes home to more than 600 of the best looking cars, trucks and motorcycles with plenty of music, entertainment, swap meets, children activities, vendors and more. FREE to attend.
June 26 — 59th Annual Ford Fireworks {Detroit} — Visit Detroit for this annual fireworks celebration over the river. FREE for general admission.
June 26 — Great Start Livingston Summer Playground Playdates {Brighton} — Join Great Start and local families for fun in the sun and socializing. Open to Livingston County residents and children, ages 0-8. 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Genoa Township Park.
June 27 — Laugh it up with Rosco – Picnic Palooza {Macomb} — Bring your giggles and your smiles for a side-splitting half hour of Fun Magic for everyone! Lots of audience participation. At the end of the show, Rosco will hand out Clown Noses for everyone & take a picture of everyone clowning around! 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. FREE.
June 28 — Wild Over Wednesday at the DNR Outdoor Adventure Center {Detroit} — Visit the OAC The last Wednesday of each month for free admission from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be story time, hands-on experiences, games and more. FREE.
