I am a Hudsonville Ice Cream brand ambassador. All opinions expressed belong to me.
I recently had the opportunity to attend a fun event with Michigan-based Hudsonville Ice Cream. The company hosted a contest to ask people if they could choose a flavor of Detroit, what would it be? I went to the event with a flurry of ideas in my head of what new creation they would be announcing.
After sorting through 2,500 entires, Hudsonville revealed the newest flavor to join its family of Michigan-themed ice creams to represent Detroit: The “Comeback Cooler,” which is a twist on the traditional Boston Cooler, with a Vernors-inspired ginger taste.
Hudsonville Ice Cream judged entries based on flavor potential, creativity of the flavor name and the explanation of inspiration for the flavor. Tracy Heureux of Plymouth submitted the winning flavor. She cited the flavor as something she associated strongly with Detroit, and something she craved when living in Philadelphia.
I was able to sample the first batch, and I have to say, it’s pretty awesome so far, but I am a Vernors-loving gal. I love how the name ties into what a comeback city story Detroit is and I can’t wait to taste the final product and see it on store shelves! It is expected to roll out in the fall of 2017.
