Dining out with little ones can be a daunting task. I often joke it’s hard to choose between my sanity at a restaurant or my sanity of cooking an actual meal. Both options have their own set of pros and cons.

Many times the best solution for our family is take out. As a parent, it’s great to have the ability to pick-up a meal without all the whining or temptation for food you just know won’t get eaten 😉

During summer, we love to pick up take out from our favorite spots and bring the food to a local park to enjoy.

Carside To Go from Applebee’s

We recently tried Applebee’s Carside To Go and loved the feature. Ordering online was easy, and I loved that we weren’t put on the spot with a server and could explain all the meals to the kids without a rush. All of our dishes were easily customized too, which was great for our picky kids.

All we had to do was pull-in, go to one of the designated Carside To Go spots and wait for our food to be delivered. The server came out to our car at the exact time our meal was scheduled for. I loved that I was able to add a tip before getting there so we could just grab the food and go.

Everything was in individual containers and ready to eat when we arrived to the park.

I love the Oriental Chicken Salad and chicken tortilla soup and both tasted great and fresh this way.

My kids split two kids meals between the three of them and it was the perfect amount for my crew and they gobbled it up. It was nice being able to add an extra drink for 99 cents too!

Bonus of eating outside? My kids always eat great. I can’t figure out if it’s the fresh air, scenery, or what, but they always finish their meal.

It could also be the lure of a fun park to play at after they finish their meal…Which is OK by me!

  5. I loved their Broccoli Chicken Alfredo….. and then they got rid of it. Haven’t been to Applebees in forever, partially because it sucks taking kids out to eat and partially I enjoy cooking!

  61. We love kid’s eat free. I like the recent special item of the chicken topped with cheese sticks and marinara. Clearly not an every time choice, but it’s so good.
