Rejoice! Buddy’s Pizza Ann Arbor is now open!

When I make lists of my favorite iconic Detroit food eats, you betcha Vernor’s, Sanders and Better Made is on it.

But when it comes to a restaurant, there’s nothing more iconic D-town than Buddy’s, which started on the corner of Conant and Six Mile in 1946. Buddy’s is THE reason “Detroit style” pizza exists. I may be a little bias, but move over New York and Chicago, Detroit is truly the BEST when it comes to pizza.

That deep crunchy crust combined with Wisconsin brick cheese and Sicilian style pepperoni…Oh, come to mama!

After 71 years of serving pies throughout metro Detroit, the family owned business has now expanded to Ann Arbor with its 12th location.

The 6,500 square foot restaurant opened last week and when I visited on opening day, the place was packed! Guess it’s safe to say Ann Arbor-ites are excited about the new guy in town.

Who wouldn’t love another amazing pizza joint?

The interior design has a very cool, industrial feel — a nod to Detroit’s roots. Rich, warm colors are showcased throughout, with metal, brick and wood detail.

The full-service location seats 200 patrons in a main dining room and feature a main lobby, an outdoor dining area, main bar, banquet room, carry-out area, restrooms and kitchen.

Conveniently situated near I-94 and just minutes from the Big House, the new location will surely provide locals and visitors with a new tradition for football Saturdays and the Buddy’s Pizza flavors they know and love, closer to home.

Buddy’s Pizza – Ann Arbor is located in the Pittsfield Plaza at 3153 Ann Arbor-Saline Rd.

Hours are as follows:

• Monday-Thursday: 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.
• Friday: 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
• Saturday: 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
• Sunday: 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.
