If you’ve never experienced the excitement that is the Detroit Auto Show — formally named the North American International Auto Show {or NAIAS} — this is your year! My husband works for an automotive supplier, and there’s a chance you know someone touched by the industry as well.
Even my kids love seeing all the vehicles up close…and sitting inside the super nice ones 😉
Due to my love for Detroit, I’ve been to the auto show several times and I’m not even close to a vehicle aficionado. The way I see it, vehicles are like art — there is always something to learn and/or appreciate. From sleek concept cars to classics re-invented, there is something for all to enjoy. After all, vehicles are the reason we are able to go on adventures in the first place, right?
Where else can you see a real Aston Martin up close?!
This year I will be attending the show as a member of the media with A Girl’s Guide To Cars and Detroit-based Steel Market Development Institute (SMDI), and giving away tickets to 10 lucky winners. Keep scrolling to see why you should visit and how to win!
WHY #STEELMATTERS
Steel isn’t something that comes to the forefront of my mind when considering a vehicle, but I have a feeling that will change as I learn. Thanks to advances in steel manufacturing, the face of steel has evolved in a way that benefits consumers (including families), automakers, and the environment.
One of the most exciting vehicle unveils at the show will be the 2019 Ram 1500, which is manufactured with Advanced High-Strength Steel (AHSS), and emphasizes performance, value and sustainability. I’m intrigued to learn more because the use of steel in various vehicle components can help automakers reach desired fuel economy targets, and help lower the cost of ownership in comparison to vehicles made with alternative materials.
The environmentalist in me is intrigued by the fact steel has the lowest production phase greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and is recycled more than all other materials combined.
I look forward to learning more and will be sure to post my findings on my Instagram and Facebook.
