February 2 — Groundhog Day with Michigan’s Official Groundhog, Woody, at the Howell Nature Center {Howell} — Get your spring forecast straight from Woody, Michigan’s Official Groundhog! The Howell Conference & Nature Center will host a special celebration starting at 7 a.m.
February 2 — Free Admission to Cranbrook Institute of Science {Bloomfield Hills} — Visit after 5 p.m. the first Friday of every month, courtesy of the MASCO Corporation, for FREE.
February 2-10 {Weekends} — Mary Poppins Jr. at Starlight Theater {Waterford} — One of the most popular Disney movies of all time is capturing hearts in a whole new way: as a practically perfect musical! Mary Poppins is an enchanting mixture of irresistible story, unforgettable songs, and wonderful dance numbers. Adult tickets are $16, seniors are $13, students and children are $11.
February 3 — Families at The Broad {East Lansing} — Visit this East Lansing modern art museum from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. for hands-on activities and a family guided tour at 1 p.m. FREE thanks to Farm Bureau. Andy Warhol is the featured artist of the day.
February 3 — MSU Bug House Open House {East Lansing} — Visit Michigan State University for their Bug House open house and learn all about creepy crawly creatures! FREE. Learn more about what to expect at this post.
February 3 — Kid’s Workshop at Home Depot {Nationwide} — Make a Valentine bean bag toss for FREE at Home Depot. Hands-on workshops are designed for children ages 5-12 and take place between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Advance registration encouraged. Learn more about what to expect at this post.
February 3 — Michaels Kid Club {Nationwide} — Visit Michael’s to make Valentine Lovebugs! Kids 3 and up can enjoy a quick project and take home a finished masterpiece. Sign up in store or online, or just drop in. $2-$5, supplies included. 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Learn more at my post here.
February 3 — Wild Winter Weekends at the Detroit Zoo {Royal Oak} — Wild Winter Weekends features arctic-themed arts and crafts, games and entertainment. All activities are free with zoo admission and take place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Ford Education Center. Admission range: Free for 2 and under, otherwise priced $10-$14.
February 3 — Winterfest Snow Day {Milford} — Visit Central Park in Milford from 3-5 p.m. for snow-centric fun including winter games, crafts, snowshoeing, a bonfire and more. FREE.
February 3, 10, 17, 24 — FREE Day at the Flint Institute of Arts {Flint} — This museum is FREE to visit every Saturday thanks to Huntington.
February 6 & 7 — LEGO Monthly Build at Somerset Collection {Troy} — Build a LEGO® car and gas tank model and take it home for FREE after! Must register in advance. This event is open to children ages 6-14 only.
February 7 at 11 a.m. & 17 at 10:30 a.m. — Young Explorers at Michigan Science Center {Detroit} — Visit Kids Town with children ages 2 – 5 for stories, science-themed activities and socialization time. Adult with one child is $10; additional children are $5. Children under two are free. February is all about dinosaurs.
February 9 — Utica Ice Festival {Utica} — Ice sculptures, children’s activities, and more. FREE.

February 10 — Adventures in Winterland {Flint} — Visit Flint Iceland Arena to celebrate U.S. Figure Skating’s National Skating Month with us and enjoy free activities such as ice skating lessons, cooking with kids demo, snowshoeing and more! FREE.
February 10 — Chocolate Extravaganza {Chelsea} — The family-friendly event offers chocolate and Valentine-themed treats and activities in more than 30 local shops, restaurants, galleries and cafes. The stores each have their own distinct atmosphere and carry a sweeping variety of goods, which makes shopping a fun experience. FREE to attend.
February 10 — Brick Bash {Ann Arbor} — Brick Bash is a public, hands-on LEGO-building exhibition for all ages. See amazing creations made out of LEGO: Trains, cities, robots, art, vehicles, construction equipment, and more. Build anything you want at the huge tables covered with LEGO and Bionicle parts, and a separate Duplo play area for the little ones. $5/person or $20 for a family of four or more.
February 10-11 — Enchanted Princess Ball {Warren} – The Enchanted Princess Ball is a theatrical performance that transports little princesses into a magical fairytale world! Classic stories are retold as favorite characters are brought to life from the pages of favorite books to the stage. Awaiting your arrival will be: Cinderella, Snow White, Belle, Sleeping Beauty, Tinkerbell, and more. Tickets are $22.50 for both adults and children.
February 11 — My Turn: Sensory-Friendly Sunday {Ann Arbor} — Families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder and sensory processing challenges are invited to the UofM Museum of Art from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. for a FREE, sensory-friendly event to learn all about art. FREE. Registration required.
February 11 — FREE admission to the Charles H. Wright Museum of African-American History {Detroit} — Enter for FREE thanks to the DTE Energy Foundation. {Perfect for teaching about African-American History Month!}
February 11 — Darwin Day at the MSU Museum {East Lansing} — Visit the Michigan State University Museum from 1-5 p.m. for an afternoon of science, exploration and discovery! FREE.
February 15 — Fairy Tea at Crazy Wisdom Book Store {Ann Arbor} — Children, ages 2-8, and their families are welcome for tea and cookies served by real fairies! Celebrate with enchanting fairies as they serve tea, treats, and magic. 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. events. Registration is required. $11/person. {Babies 18 months and younger are free.}
February 17 — Clark Park Winter Carnival {Detroit} — Visit Clark Park in Detroit for food, outdoor games, ice skating, marshmallow roasting and more. FREE.

February 18 — Engineering Day at Impression 5 {Lansing} — Michigan State University College of Engineering and Impression 5 Science Center present Engineering Day: A Day Engineered for Fun! Meet MSU Engineering Clubs and participate in a bunch of great themed activities! Regular admission applies.
February 18 — Southfield Winterfest {Southfield} — Join Southfield Parks & Recreation Department for fun including indoor fun with inflatables, a DJ, naturalists from Oakland County Parks and the Huron Clinton Metroparks, crafts and games in the Southfield Pavilion, plus outside fun with marshmallow roasting, horse-drawn carriage rides and free ice skating. FREE.
February 18 — Oak Park Winterfest {Oak Park} — This free event features carriage rides, reindeer pens, ice skating, photo opportunities, cookie decoration, face painting, s’mores by the fire, chili and hot chocolate {while supplies last}, and more. FREE.

February 24-25 — LEGO®Palooza at Impression 5 {Lansing} — Come enjoy all things LEGO® from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. including special LEGO-themed activities and challenges. Unleash your imagination in the free-build area, play in the LEGO arcade, and much more. Entry for non-members is $15 for kids 2 & up and adults are $5.
February 25 — Under The African Sky at Wild Swan Theater {Ann Arbor} — A delightful collection of African tales performed through storytelling, acting, dancing, and drumming. Colorful costumes, masks, and traditional music will delight and teach our young fans, with lots of opportunities for audience participation. Geared for K-4th grade students. $10/children/seniors and $12 for adults.
