When it’s nice outside, we spend a ton of time at local parks. First, because they are FREE. Second, because they are the perfect way for my crazy crew to use up some energy!
My almost 6-year-old LOVES to climb, so we are always on the hunt for playgrounds that satisfy that sensory seeking need in her.
So when we discovered County Farm Park in Ann Arbor, we were so excited. Not only does it have amazing climbing structures, but it also has a cute pint-sized area and beautiful walking trails. It truly is one of the best parks we’ve visited in the area.
This park is the perfect spot to pack a picnic and spend a few hours. It does get a lot of morning sun, but has some really neat umbrellas in the form of a butterfly and a flower. How colorful and fun, right? It never hurts to pack some sunscreen for faces at least!
My little guy was partial to the cute farm equipment onsite, and I enjoyed watching the kids get creative in a miniature barn and tractor with a slide.
Just outside the perimeter of the park was a beautiful garden and walking trails. We visited on a hot day, so the kids were ecstatic to get wet by the sprinklers near the garden. The raised garden had mini trails throughout, which was fun for kids since it felt like a maze.
After, we decided to take a hike and chose the easiest trail, which was .6 miles long. It was a beautiful, woodsy walk, and we spotted plenty of squirrels, chipmunks, and wildflowers on our walk. It was the perfect length for young legs.
There are lots of options for trails surrounding the park, and the paths were clearly marked along the way, according to color.
A pavilion located near the playground provided additional shade and also had restrooms.
If you happen to find yourself in Ann Arbor, I highly recommend checking out this park!
GETTING THERE
You can plug 2230 Platt Rd. into your GPS. This will take you to the recreation center. Do not park there though. Keep following Platt Road down until you see the parking lot and gate on the right side. This will bring you right to the play structures.
Have so much fun if you visit!
