Through April 30 — Butterflies in the Garden at MSU {East Lansing} — Visit the MSU Children’s Gardens to learn all about butterflies. Parking is free on the weekend, but there is a $1.80/hour charge during the week. FREE.
April 4 — Tiger’s Home Opener in Detroit! Go Tigs!!!
April 4 — PJ Masks LIVE Save The Day {Detroit} — Learn more about the show here. Tickets range from $29.50 – $55.50.
April 5, 12, 19, 26 — Planetarium Shows at Wayne State University {Detroit} — Visit the planetarium for a look at the night sky. Recommended for older children. Check out this post for details on how to get tickets. FREE.
April 5-20 — MSU Science Festival {East Lansing and Beyond!} — A multi-day celebration of science, with more than 150 presentations, demos, tours, open houses, discussion panels and hands-on activities for ALL ages. Tons of events all over the state listed here. FREE.
April 5 — FREE Admission to Cranbrook Institute of Science After 5 p.m. {Bloomfield Hills} — Thanks to the MASCO Corporation Foundation.
April 6 — Families at The Broad {East Lansing} — Visit this East Lansing modern art museum from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. for hands-on activities. FREE thanks to Farm Bureau.
April 6 — Home Depot Kids Workshop {Nationwide} — Visit Home Depot to build a bird house. Kids get to keep their craft, receive a certificate of achievement, a workshop apron, and a pin. 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. FREE.
April 6 — Michaels Kid Club {Nationwide} — Drop into a Michael’s Craft Store and take home a completed project. $2-$5 per child. 10 a.m. – noon. Ages 3 and up. This day’s project is carrot themed.
April 6 — Michael’s MAKE break {Nationwide} — Drop into a Michael’s Craft Store and take home a completed project. On this day, it’s a ‘My Peeps’ shirt. Purchase the shirt and the rest of the supplies are free. 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
April 6, 13, 20, 27 — FREE Day at the Flint Institute of Art {Flint} — This museum is FREE to visit every Saturday thanks to First Merit Bank. Tips for your visit can be found here.
April 6 — Lansing Lugnuts Home Opener {Lansing} – Grab some tickets and bring the family to watch the Lugnuts, Lansing’s minor league team. Tickets start at $8. Check out the amazing promotional schedule here.
April 7 — Festifools Parade {Ann Arbor} — FestiFools is a public arts performance held in Ann Arbor every year that features papier-maché puppets. Sunday from 4-5 p.m. on Main, between William and Washington St. in downtown Ann Arbor. FREE.
April 7-14 — Bookstock Used Book Sale {Livonia} — Visit Laurel Park Place for Michigan’s largest used book and media sale. This is a great spot to pick up great books — and all the proceeds benefit literacy causes in metro Detroit. {More info coming soon!}
April 8 — MSU Bug House Open House {East Lansing} — Visit MSU’s Bug House, where you can see, touch or even hold some real creepy crawlers. In addition to viewing the amazing pinned displays, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with a whole room of insects, including walking sticks and tarantulas. 5:30-7:30 p.m. FREE.
April 9 — FREE Cone Day at Ben & Jerry’s {Ann Arbor} — Visit Ben & Jerry’s at 304 South State Street in Ann Arbor for a FREE cup or cone of ice cream.
April 13 — Michaels Kid Club {Nationwide} — Drop into a Michael’s Craft Store and take home a completed project. $3 per child. 10 a.m. – noon. Ages 3 and up. This day’s project is a funny bunny.

April 13 — Neuroscience Fair at MSU {East Lansing} — Attend this free annual event hosted by the MSU Neuroscience Program. Touch a real human brain, make some some brainy crafts, play games, and maybe even dissect a cow eye. Open to all ages! No registration or tickets required. {This was one of our favorite events we attended last year!}

April 13 — Small Animals Day at MSU —Visit the MSU Pavillion for Small Animals Day from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Kids can milk a cow, hold a piglet, pet sheep and more. Admission is $5/person. Children 2 and under are free.
April 13 — Greenfield Village Opening Day {Dearborn} — Visit the Village for glass blowing demonstrations, farm cooking demonstration, and more to make it the ultimate educational field trip! Adults are $28, youth $21 and children 4 and under are free.
April 14 — MSU Science Festival Detroit Expo Day {Detroit} —Visit Belle Isle Park from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. for demonstrations, tours, hands-on activities, performances and talks surrounding science. Awesome topics! FREE {may need a rec passport to get on the island}.
April 20 — Michaels Kid Club {Nationwide} — Drop into a Michael’s Craft Store and take home a completed project. $3 per child. 10 a.m. – noon. Ages 3 and up. This day’s project is fuzzy lambs.
April 20 — Michael’s MAKE break {Nationwide} — Drop into a Michael’s Craft Store and take home a completed project. On this day, it’s an ‘egg-cellent’ banner. Purchase the shirt and the rest of the supplies are free. 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
April 22 — HAPPY EARTH DAY!
April 27 — Downtown Flint ComiXcon {Flint} — The tenth annual downtown Flint ComiXcon will take place at the Flint Farmer’s Market, and will have comics, books, posters, art, cosplay, gaming and more. Admission is $5, with children under 12 free with a paying adult.
April 27 — Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood LIVE {Detroit} — Learn more about the show here. Tickets range from $22 – $39.75.
April 28-29 — Enchanted Princess Ball {Harrison Township} — The Enchanted Princess Ball is a theatrical performance that transports little princesses into a magical fairytale world! Classic stories are retold as favorite characters are brought to life from the pages of favorite books to the stage. Tickets are $24.50 + service fee for both adults and children and should be purchased in advance.
April 24 — Wild Over Wednesday at the DNR Outdoor Adventure Center {Detroit} — Visit the OAC The last Wednesday of each month for free admission from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be story time, hands-on experiences, games and more. FREE.
April 27 — Touch-A-Truck {Royal Oak} — Explore vehicles including public service, emergency, utility, construction, and transportation! Other activities include food, crafts and entertainment. 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. FREE; peanut butter and/or jelly donations encouraged. Located in the Meijer parking lot.
