When is the last time you took the time to feel beautiful just for yourself? Besides my once-every-year haircut, I’ve been terrible about this form of self-care since having kids.
So when Green Oak Village Place in Brighton contacted me about a day of pampering, I had to jump at the chance!
I love that Green Oak Village Place is truly a one-stop shopping spot for all things glam: With a salon and spa, nail spot, places to shop for the latest fashion finds, and stores with jewelry and make-up, it truly has it all.
I started my day at One Salon and Spa, and enjoyed my first ever blow out. Do you ever dream about hiring someone to just blow dry and style your hair daily? I do all the time and would totally do this if I ever won the lotto 😉
My stylist, Jayke, hooked me up with a fantastic wash, scalp massage and blow dry. It felt amazing and he was a lot of fun to chat with. I loved that my hair felt fresh for 4 days after too…Something about that salon shampoo really made me want to do this more often!
The salon is beautiful inside and offers not only hair services, but also massages, nail care, skin care, and even eyelash extensions. Perfect spot for a Christmas gift card, right?
TIP: The salon asks for tips in cash, so make sure to have some extra money on you.
After getting my hair done, I headed across the way to Happy Nails. I debated getting a pedicure because it’s winter and my feet are ridiculously ticklish, but decided to go for it at the last minute.
Aiden was my nail tech and I absolutely loved him. He was really fun to chat with the entire time, and we enjoyed conversation about all sorts of topics.
I planned on a simple manicure, but he asked if I wanted to try the ‘dip’ method versus the shellac I was contemplating. I’m so glad he mentioned it because I am going on two weeks and my nails still look fantastic despite exercising and working on a computer daily.
I’m usually one to paint my own nails, but this just makes me SO happy. I plan to go back a few times this holiday season to keep my nails looking fresh!
After my nails were done drying, I hopped over to Ulta. I’ve been in this store a few times, but mostly for perfume. I am not a big make-up person, so was a little intimidated upon walking in.
I quickly learned that wasn’t warranted because I had the best experience! I also learned that Ultra not only can help with fragrance and make-up but with hair, brows, skin care, and lashes, too.
Upon hearing the brow part, I headed over to the Benefit Brow Bar because I knew my brows needed some love. {I am a product of 90’s overplucking and they haven’t been the same since!}
For the first time in my life, I am loving my brows. Madi did such a great job! I had no idea ‘brow mapping’ was a thing, and loved learning about tricks I can do to make my brows thicken. I also splurged for the $5 relaxing eye mask {because kids}. I’m sharing this photo only because it is hysterical. The things we do for beauty!
After I learned all about brow care and made a few purchases, I headed over to the MAC area where I learned all about make-up application from a sweet gal named Megan. I had so much fun talking about make-up trends and learning what foundations work best for my skin type.
I already have plans to go back for the lipstick she put on me because it will be perfect for the holidays! I also loved the ‘smoky eye’ look she gave me without me feeling like it was too much eye make-up.
As many of you know, I’m not a glam kinda mom…But I sure had fun, and I cannot express how awesome this day ended up being.
I encourage all of you out there to step outside your comfort zone and take a day this holiday season to glam it up — if not for a holiday party, then for a date night in or a family night out. I guarantee you will smile as much as I did. And if you’re looking for a spot to knock out everything on your list, make sure to check out Green Oak Village Place!
Oh! And one more stop I had to make…Needed an afternoon coffee, so headed to another one of my other Green Oak favorites, The Fuel, for their turmeric peppermint mocha.
Cheers to the holiday fun ahead in the coming month!
