Once again I am sharing some of my favorite products that are recent or longtime favorites. Life is so much better when we share the good stuff, isn’t it? Feel free to chime in with your favorites too!
BOOK: THE FOUR WINDS BY KRISTIN HANNAH
If you love historical fiction, this is a great read, which highlights life in the west during the dust bowl, followed by a tumultuous move across the country to California, where the family endures more hardship as agriculture workers.
Is is a happy read? No. But it tells it like it was at that time…It was tough, and you had to be tough, too. Kristin Hannah is an amazing author, and she flawlessly creates a world in which readers can engage. Her speciality seems to be feisty characters, which she nails in this one. {If you’re facisnated with the Dust Bowl like I am, I highly recommend the book The Worst Hard Time too. It’s truly a neat piece of history.}
HOME PRODUCT: SHEETS LAUNDRY CLUB
I’m always looking for ways we can be a little better to the environment, so when a friend posted that she was loving laundry sheets, I knew it was a good time to make the switch. Since then, I’ve enrolled in a monthly shipping from Sheets Laundry Club and I am loving it. For $13.99/month, it’s pretty similar to what I was spending on liquid detergent, and without needing to lug that big jug down from the shelf, the kids can actually help do laundry. Winning all around! They seem to do a great job, and I love that they don’t have any harsh chemicals.
LOCAL BEVVIE: BEA’S SQUEEZE
{Full disclosure: Bea’s Squeeze sent me product samples to try. I am including here because I enjoyed it so much!} Bea’s Squeeze was started on a tiny parcel of land on the Dequindre Cut in Detroit. The fresh-tasting recipe is completely natural and free from anything artificial, and includes one third less sugar than traditional brands. It currently comes in three flavors: classic, pink rose and lavender.
My favorite is definitely the lavender, which is so refreshing on a hot day! Bea’s is now available at BJ’s locations, as well as Meijer, and lots of other independent grocers. If you see it, give it a shot. It’s a great local company to support this summer. I want to freeze some for lemonade popsicles too!
BEAUTY: NEUTROGENA HYDRO BOOST FACE CREAMS
During the past several years, I’ve tried sooooo many face creams, and many of them really bothered my eyes or the texture was too thick and it never seemed to dry before I needed to put on make-up. I absolutely love the Neutrogena Hydro Boost line. I use both the day cream {with SPF 25} and the night cream. Both leave my skin feeling so smooth and hydrated, and a tiny bit goes a LONG way — a jar lasts me about 6 months. {FYI – I’ve also tried the Meijer brand of this while in stock and it works great and is half the price!} I highly recommend this stuff if you need a new face cream that is affordable, and you can grab while grocery shopping.
EASY MEAL IDEA: Aldi Meatballs + Spaghetti Sauce
We are in our family’s busy season with spring sports and end-of-the-year fun. So fast and simple meals are key! A weekly favorite of the kids’ is meatball subs. The Aldi brand of meatballs and sauce are amazing. I love their sauce because it only uses natural ingredients, unlike many brands that sneak in high fructose corn syrup. Paired with some frozen veggies and fresh fruit, this easily is a meal that costs about $10 to feed our family of 5.
What products and things are on your radar this month? I’d love to hear!
