BOOK: WHAT’S YOUR ENNEATYPE?
I am a huge fan of the Enneagram. If you aren’t familiar with the term, the “Enneagram is a centuries-old categorization tool that classifies human personalities into nine interconnected personality types. It is a powerful tool for self-observation, maximizing your strengths, and improving your relationships.”
Personally, I find it truly enlightening, and it has really helped me develop over the past few years as I learn the areas I struggle with, how others may perceive me, and how the closest people in my life work. When we understand how others tick, it can be life changing! I’ve found myself becoming more understanding and forgiving, the more I learn.
The book What’s Your Enneatype? An Essential Guide to the Enneagram: Understanding the Nine Personality Types for Personal Growth and Strengthened Relationships is the perfect level 101 book that explains the nine types. I love the graphics used throughout and how it breaks down each type. I definitely recommend for anyone looking to learn more about themselves and those they love.
{If you’re familiar with it, I’m a Seven, which is not surprising as a blogger who writes about family adventures!}
LOCAL BIZ: MICHIGAN THREADS HEADBANDS
I started following Sarah of Michigan Threads Headbands on Instagram awhile back, and finally made my first purchase. I have to say, I am in love! As a gal with super thick and wavy hair, it’s rare my hair is down in summer…It’s simply too much work. So headbands and hats are my friend since they are a great way to accessorize and provide function during the hottest season.
I love that these headbands fit my big ole head, don’t give me a headache, and are super soft and comfortable. I definitely see myself buying more. I love all the patterns and styles the shop offers, too. Definitely check them out the next time you’re on the hunt for an amazing headband. They are well worth it!
The shop has been kind enough to extend a discount to my readers too! Enter LAUREN10 for 10% off any orders you place. {Offer expires on 9/1/21}
USEFUL ITEM: BUBBA WATER BOTTLES
I don’t know about your house, but there’s nothing that screams I have three children like the amount of water bottles we own. We have so many kinds from cheap plastic ones to Tervis’ and Yeti brands, and they ALL get used. My absolute favorite though is a brand from Walmart. My kids are big on having cold water during the summer and in their classrooms, but I wasn’t about to drop a bunch of cash for them. Bubba is a brand that works fantastic, can go in the dishwasher, and is super affordable!
I upgraded this summer to this larger water bottle because my kids usually go through theirs quickly, and I wanted to have a little extra in mine in case I needed to share. I love that it has a straw because that seems to trick my brain into drinking more water. I can honestly say this is the BEST water bottle I’ve owned, and it only cost $14. Sure, it’s a bit heavy when full, but it has been worth it to have the extra water while out. And it stays cold, even when it’s in the hot car for hours. Can’t recommend enough!
ADVENTURING ESSENTIAL: BACKPACK COOLER
As you all know, we head out on adventures fairly often. A big way we save money is by packing a lunch. I quickly noticed our regular backpack was full not just with food, but with lunch boxes and water bottles as well. With temps rising, it was time to invest in a backpack cooler. Boy has this thing come in handy! It is perfect for trips to the beach as well as trips to places where we know we will be exploring for a few hours. Pop in some ice packs and your stuff stays cold all day long. I like that it has two large side pockets for waters, and the front pocket is large enough to fit my wallet, hand sanitizer, and napkins. Oh! And it has a bottle opener in case you’re packing brewskis 😉
DATE NIGHT SPOT: ORE CREEK CRAFT CIDER IN PINCKNEY
I think it’s safe to say all of us love a good patio, and the one at Ore Creek Craft Cider is tops! This is such a cute hidden location for a girls night or a date night. I am grateful my friend Katie introduced it to me. I can’t wait to return for a date night with my hubs. They do not serve food, but you can bring it your own, or order pizza from the spot next door. I definitely recommend if you’re looking for a fun spot with a patio!
