2021 Guide To Sunflower Fields in Southeast Michigan and Surrounding Areas

On our family summer bucket list, June is for strawberries, July is for blueberries, and August is for SUNFLOWERS! Maybe it’s a cliche flower to some, but there is nothing that will take your breath away more than a field filled with these beauties. You can’t NOT smile!

I am lucky to be in an area where there are plenty of sunflower fields. Many farmers plant them to take advantage of the nutrient soil conditions, so that’s why some years you will see sunflowers and the next year will be followed up with corn.

There are many more fields than the ones listed below BUT not all farms are open to the public. Please be respectful when visiting and if you are able to purchase something from the farm, please do. After all, farmers make the world go ’round!

NOTE: Some farms require advance tickets, so pay attention to that. Additionally, always check websites or call before visiting. Sunflowers typically bloom in late July and through August, but field conditions may vary in different areas.

Sunflower Fields in Southeast Michigan

Fields are in alphabetical order by city. NOTE: Some require advance tickets this year, so make sure to visit the website before you visit!

Vanhoutte Farm | 69475 Romeo Plank Rd., Armada, MI 48005

Visit this farm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for both sunflowers and wildflowers. U-Pick flowers is $12 for a large mason jar or two jars for $20.

DeBuck’s Sunflower Farm | 50240 Martz Rd., Belleville, MI 48111

There is a $9 fee per person to visit the fields and tickets must be purchased online. Patrons can also purchase flowers {$7 for a bag, $25 for a bucket} and food for an additional fee.

Munsell Farms | 6850 Mason Rd., Fowlerville, MI 48836

There is no fee to visit this farm and take photos. Just be respectful in the field and do not pick any of the flowers!

Eaton Kids Farm | 2573 E. Cook Rd., Grand Blanc, MI 48439

Visit this field of flowers for free to take pictures! To support them, pick one for $1 or pick six for $5. {Note: There’s no website for this family-run farm}

Spicer Orchards Farm Market & Winery | 10411 Clyde Rd., Fenton, MI 48430

There is a $5 fee to visit, which includes a wagon ride to the field and one stem {otherwise 5 stems for $10 or a bucket for $20}. Do not skip their donuts or wine either — so good!

Zilke Vegetable Farm | 12491 Carpenter Rd., Milan, MI 48160

{Select dates only!} Tickets are $5 Monday through Thursday and $8 Friday through Sunday. Children are $3. Fresh-cut sunflowers will be available for an additional charge. Cold beverages and snacks are available for purchase.

Gust Brothers Farm | 13639 Mulberry Road, Ottawa Lake, MI  49267

Visit Gust Brothers for their 5 acre sunflower maze, which includes over 15 varieties of sunflowers. The trail is perfect for senior pictures, family pictures, or just to take a stroll and surround yourself with flowers. The sunflower trail has a cost of $5 per person {2 and under is free}.

Schell Family Farm | 10055 Dexter-Pinckney Rd., Pinckney, MI 48169

Schell has both a sunflower field and a wildflower field. The fee is $5 for adults; free for kids and includes one flower. Otherwise, they are $2/flower or 5 flowers for $10. Picnics encouraged, and they also sell other goodies like donuts and cider slushies.

Westview Orchards & Winery | 65075 Van Dyke Rd., Washington, MI 48095

{Select dates only!} Tickets are $13 in advance; $18 day of. Each ticket includes a wagon ride out to the acres of sunflowers and 1 sunflower bloom to cut while out in the patch. Food and wine are available for an additional charge.
