Halloween is my favorite holiday for so many reasons…Scary movies, donuts and pumpkins at my favorite spot, haunted houses, and of course, the excuse to dress up, are just a few.
This year, I’ve joined forces with some fellow local bloggers to share Southeast Michigan Halloween Happenings, and since I live in Livingston County, I’m covering this area. Please note some are not family-friendly because let’s be real — Halloween isn’t just for kids! 😉

LIVINGSTON COUNTY

- Description: Join Psychic Medium, Dianna O’Grady on a stroll through the 150 year old streets of Downtown Howell, where the the past and present come alive! Hear accounts of ghostly apparitions, shadow figures, and orbs, as experienced by local business owners, local residents and paranormal investigators. An RSVP is required.
October 10: Adult Yoga at Fawcett Farms

October 10 & 17: Zombie Escape at Howell Nature Center

- Cost: $40 for members; $45 for non members
- Description: Zombies are taking over the Nature Center! Test your skills at the archery field, practice basic survival skills with fire and shelter building, and make your ESCAPE fleeing down a 500ft zip line! Will you survive? Maximum weight restriction of 250 pounds. Closed-toed shoes are a must.
October 13: Non-Scary Kids Day at Ghostly Grave at Schell Family Farm
10055 Dexter Pinckney Rd., Pinckney

- Description: Visit Ghostly Grave for a non-scary kids event. Children and their families will get a chance to walk the 3/4 mile trail and receive candy. {We did this a few years back and it was SO fun!}
October 15: Hogwarts Night at Howell Nature Center
1005 Triangle Lake Rd., Howell
- Time: 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.
- Cost: Members: $10/person; non-members: $12/person
- Description: All witches and warlocks are invited to experience the magic of Hogwarts! You will meet owls and other “magical beasts,” and have the opportunity to make magical crafts and create potions. Guests are encouraged to dress up in their house robes or as their favorite character!
October 15: Trunk or Treat at Fawcett Farms

October 22: Legend of Sleepy Howell Drive Thru Experience

- Cost: $15/car
- Description: Come join Howell Parks and Recreation for a fun drive-thru trick-or-treat experience. ONE registration needed per vehicle.
October 19: 12 Hour Horror Movie Invasion at Historic Howell Theater

- Time: 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
- Cost: Early bird pricing is $48, which includes all 6 movies plus a surprise movie, unlimited popcorn and fountain drink, a free general admission ticket to come back to the HHT for any public movie showing in the next year and 4 raffle tickets

October 22: Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Howell Opera House

- Cost: Advance tickets are $22
- Description: The 70’s cult film returns to the Howell Opera House! This movie is rated R – under 17 requires accompanying parent or guardian. Dressing up as a favorite character is encouraged for the costume contest but not required.
October 23: Trunk or Treat at Howell First United Methodist Church
1230 Bower St, Howell, MI 48843
- Time: 3 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Cost: FREE
- Description: In addition to passing out candy, there will be carnival games with prizes, fresh popcorn, and a bounce house.
October 23 & 24: Howl-O-Ween at Howell Nature Center
1005 Triangle Lake Rd., Howell
- Time: 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. or 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.
- Cost: HNC members: $6/adult & $12/child; general ticket: $8/adult & $15/child. Non-participating infants are free with any adult.
- Description: Dress up your little critter and visit the nature center for a HOWLing good time! This merry-not-so-scary event features trick-or-treating through the Wild Wonders Wildlife Park, children’s crafts, hayrides, cider and donuts, and more. Pre-event registration is required.
October 28: Trunk-or-Treat at Bible Baptist Church

October 30: Pinckney Halloween Spooktacular

- Description: The Pinckney Halloween Spooktacular is sponsored by the Downtown Development Authority and several local businesses.
