From a fantastic read to one of my favorite apps for staying organized there is a lot to love in this edition of Favorite Things November 2021!
BOOK: THE NIGHTINGALE BY KRISTIN HANNAH
I am a bit behind on reading this one, which has been highly recommended to me for years. As I mentioned in my last post, I love a great historical fiction novel, and this one fits in that genre nicely. Author Kristin Hannah continues to be a favorite of mine…I just get really invested in all of her characters!
If you’re a fan of World War II reads, you will dig this one, which highlights when the Nazis took over France. I love the family dynamics, especially between the sisters. Overall, this is a great story with a lot of factual information included throughout. {I keep promising myself to ease up on WWII stuff but it’s always so good!}
BEAUTY PRODUCT: essence | LASH PRINCESS FALSE LASH EFFECT MASCARA
I probably have no business suggesting beauty products, but when you find a good one, you have to shout it from the rooftops! I don’t wear a lot of make-up, but when I do, it definitely includes mascara.
I discovered this one in a beauty blogger product roundup about 6 months ago, and for the low price, knew I needed to give it a try. Many mascaras bother my sensitive eyes, and this one doesn’t. It’s cruelty-free and also free from alcohol, parabens, oil, and fragrance.
It truly works like a charm, lasts all day, and comes off easily with a washcloth at night. Winning!
PRODUCT: ARM & HAMMER ODOR BUSTERZ
Please don’t tell me I’m the only mom with kids that have stinky feet….LOL. A Facebook friend recently asked for ideas for how to un-stink her kiddos sports’ gear, and these were suggested. With kids in sports and limited closet space, I was starting to feel paranoid our mudroom smelled like dirty feet all the time.
These little Arm and Hammer balls to the rescue! They definitely seem to work best in small spaces {like shoes, a cabinet, or bag versus an open area}. I pop them right in my son’s shoes at night 😉
FREE APP / LIFE HACK: ANYLIST
If you struggle to stay organized, this phone app recommended by a friend is a lifesaver!
With the help of AnyList, I keep lists for everything in my life from kid book ideas and present ideas as I think of them, to tent camping lists.
But the best feature is never forgetting a piece of paper when I visit the grocery store. This app links to my husband too so he is easily able to add items and whomever shops next can easily grab all the things on the list. As you shop, you can cross off the items. Definitely recommend giving it a try!
{NOTE: We just use the free version, but the paid version even lets you upload ingredients for recipes found online and photos for obscure products. That does seem like it would be pretty darn handy!}
PODCAST: DARK HISTORY
My sister-in-law recently introduced me to this podcast, and so far, I am loving it. Host Bailey Sarian highlights dark things from America’s past that we never learned in school. I can’t wait to listen to them all because every topic truly is interesting. If you’re a podcast listener that likes a different topic each time, this is well worth a listen!
