February 1
Kick off the month in a positive way by creating these fun and encouraging heart notes for each day leading up to Valentine’s Day. My kids LOVE this tradition, and I plan to do it every year they live at home.
February 2
Happy Groundhog Day! Will the little critter see a shadow? Make your prediction, and then watch Michigan’s own groundhog, Woody, make her prediction live with the Howell Nature Center. Register for the FREE event here. Kick off starts at 7:30 a.m.
February 3
Check out a movie for just $5 at MJR Digital Cinema for their Big Screen Rewind Series. Upcoming shows include The Wizard of Oz {through Feb. 3}, The Karate Kid {Feb. 4-10}, Shrek {Feb. 11-17}, Jumanji {Feb. 18-24}, Trolls {Feb. 25 – March 3}, and Hook {March 4-10}.
February 4
Drop your favorite stuffed animal off to For-Mar Nature Center in Burton for a sleepover! Each stuffed animal family will get an agenda of what your stuffed animal will be doing during their sleepover and a fun activity to do as they follow along during a LIVE video chat with the stuffed animal friends. Presentation will be presented virtually through Facebook LIVE, zoom meetings and by pre – recorded video links. $15/animal. Learn more here. {How adorable does this sound?!}
February 5
Head to Sloan Museum inside the Courtland Center Mall for their Hot Wheels: Race to Win exhibit! This behind-the-scenes look at the thrilling world of racing investigates the scientific process for designing super-fast cars. Hands-on experiences, authentic race gear, and captivating memorabilia will engage families in the process of experimenting with speed, power, and performance using Hot Wheels cars and track as the their tools. In Hot Wheels™: Race to Win™ children and families join the race team crew and explore four zones in the team garage. Adults are $9, seniors are $8 and children are $7. Under 2 is free.
Additional fun on this day includes a night hike at Maybury State Park in Northville from 6-8 p.m. Info here.
February 6
Head to the Howell Nature Center from 1-3:30 p.m. for a family treasure hunt in the snow! Like geocaching, families will search for hidden treasure guided by GPS devices, while traversing HNC’s beautiful grounds by snowshoe. Our events are self-sustaining, and participants who plan on keeping a few treasures are asked to leave a few treasures of their own behind! Members are $10, non-members are $12. Learn more here.
February 7
Head to the Dossin Great Lakes Museum located on Belle Isle for the new exhibit – “Maritime Miniatures: The Art of the Ship Model”. A $5 fee will be instituted to cover the exhibit.
February 8
Get crafty and make some Valentine’s to send to others — grandparents, local police/EMS/firefighters, or local nursing homes. You can also send a digital one to Mott Hospital in Ann Arbor here.
February 9
Get moving as a family at home with GoNoodle. We love dancing along to these videos on cold, dark evenings when the kids have energy to burn.
{And if you want the excuse NOT to cook, it’s National Pizza Day. Seems like it would be worth celebrating!}
February 10
Plan a visit to the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit for the King Tutankhamun exhibit. {This looks incredible!!!} Tickets are timed and limited. Reserve yours here. Tickets are $25/adults and $19 for seniors and children and include general admission to the museum as well.
February 11
Drop the kids off at the Humane Society of Huron Valley for a “Pets and Pajamas” movie night from 5:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. This paw-tastic event is appropriate for ages 5 to 11 and includes adoptable animal interactions, a vegetarian dinner and an animal-themed movie with popcorn! Children are invited to wear their pajamas, bring a sleeping bag and pillow and be ready for some animal-themed fun while parents enjoy a night to themselves. The cost is $40 for the first child, and $20 for up to two additional siblings from the same household.
February 12
The Plymouth Ice Festival runs through this weekend. This is one of the area’s most premier winter events and it’s FREE to visit. Learn more about all the events here.

February 13
Visit the Michigan History Museum in Lansing — it’s FREE every Sunday and is open from 1-5 p.m. {My kids loved this spot!}
Additionally, this day brings the Super Bowl! Celebrate with all the delicious foods. {Fun kid-friendly trivia game coming soon!}
February 14
Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s a great day for pancakes with sprinkles, love notes and alllll the heart shaped foods. Also, check out these ideas for a date night in or a date night out!
February 15
Head to the Cranbrook Institute of Science to check out their rotating exhibit, Space: A Journey To Our Future. Tickets are $13/adults, children and seniors are $9.50 and toddlers 2 and under are free.
February 16
Take the kids cross-country skiing. There are lots of places that do rentals! {Read about our experience at Huron Meadows here.}
February 17
Is there fresh snow on the ground? If so, try making this super simple maple syrup snow candy!
February 18 – February 27 {select dates}
Head to Brighton High School for the production of The Wizard of Oz. Visit here for the details. {These shows are seriously incredible and like professional theatre!}. Tickets are $20 for adults and seniors and $17 for students.
February 19
It’s FREE Fishing Weekend in the state of Michigan. This means all ages are free to fish without needing a license.
{If you’ve never ice fished before, check out this event with the DNR Outdoor Adventure Center in Detroit. Equipment and lesson included for $5. Pre-registration required.}

Visit Potter Park Zoo in Lansing for the final day of their Ice Safari from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. to see animal ice carvings displayed throughout the zoo. Tickets coming soon; watch this page.

Today is President’s Day! Take the time to learn all about our U.S. presidents. Visit the library for inspiration, or check Pinterest for cool crafts to celebrate.
February 22
First of all, it’s 2-2-22, so that’s something to be celebrated! It’s TWOSDAY too!
If you have a Wild Kratts fan in your house, make sure to check out the newest exhibit at Impression 5 Science Center in Lansing. Tickets are $8.50/adults and children 2+, $7 for seniors and $2 for those who qualify for the Museums for All program.
February 23
Head to the Flint Children’s Museum for some play-inspired fun. This is one of our favorites for the 5 and under crowd! It’s so cute.
February 24
Go glow-in-the-dark mini-golfing at the Putting Edge in Novi — just make sure to reserve a time in advance and check Groupon beforehand!
February 25
Go ice skating at Riley Park Ice Rink in Farmington. They have FREE rentals and it’s free to visit too!
February 26
Head to Monster Jam in Detroit at Ford Field. Tickets start at just $15! Learn more here.
February 27
Today is National Pokémon Day. Why not spend it playing Pokémon Go, a fun and interactive game that inspires adventure? Head out to explore with the kids, hunting creatures along the way. {My kids LOVE The Upkeep Games store in Howell for getting trading cards!}

Visit an arcade. We love Dave & Busters {Livonia and Utica}, Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum {Farmington Hills}, and CJ Barrymore’s in Clinton Township {Groupon available!}.
