Spring is officially here…Now will April showers bring May flowers? Only time will tell, but I sure hope so!

April 1
Happy April Fool’s Day! No need for cruel jokes, even something as simple on Googly eyes on all the items in your kids’ lunchbox would be cute and fun 😉
Additionally, check out Ann Arbor’s annual FoolMoon and Festifools event, which is now back this year.
April 2
If you have a science-loving kiddo, check out the slew of cool virtual events MSU is offering for their annual Science Festival. There truly is something for all ages happening all month long!
Or, head to UofM for their spring football game. Admission is FREE.
April 3
This day is National Find a Rainbow Day! Make rainbow art such as these cute cardboard rainbows, rainbow rice, create a rainbow volcano, or do a rainbow science experiment.
If your family is up for a challenge, head to the Howell Nature Center for day highlighting archery. Your family will learn how to use a bow before they take aim at targets and enjoy some wacky archery challenges. Ages 5+. $12 per person, or $10 per person for members.
April 4
Head biking! A few ideas: The bike trail at Hartland’s Settlers Park, the bike pump track in Hines Park in Westland, the Dequindre Cut in Detroit or the Lakeland Trail in Pinckney.
April 5
Gear up for Easter by drawing something festive for your fridge. Art For Kids Hub has lots of cute ideas!
April 6

April 7
Head to Kensington Metropark to check out the baby animals at the farm and feed the birds like a Disney princess around the nature center!
April 8
Happy Opening Day to both the Detroit Tigers and the Lansing Lugnuts! Even if you aren’t heading to a game, it’s still a great day to rock your Detroit or Lugnuts gear and celebrate at home with hot dogs, popcorn, peanuts and Cracker Jacks.
April 9
Visit Bower’s School Farm in Bloomfield Hills for open barn from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. $10/person for ages 2 and up.
April 10
It’s National Unicorn Day! Celebrate by riding a “unicorn” at Carousel Acres in South Lyon from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. $10/child; $5/other visitors and pre-registration required.
Additionally, Adiska Dental and Schell Family Farm will be hosting a FREE egg hunt with the Easter Bunny, balloon animals, and other activities along.
April 11
Visit MSU’s Bug House, where you can see, touch or even hold some real creepy crawlers. In addition to viewing the amazing pinned displays, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with a whole room of insects, including walking sticks and tarantulas. 5:30-7:30 p.m. FREE.
April 12
Take a spring walk and climb the boulders at the Carpenter Lake Nature Trail in Southfield. This spot is SO fun and has a great, short paved hike for littles and strollers. FREE.
April 13
Plan a visit to a playground or several, and have your kids rate them. {We loved doing this in Livingston County last year}
April 14
Visit the Hot Wheels exhibit at Sloan Museum, located inside the Courtland Center Mall in Burton. {Exhibit closes on May 15, so get there soon!} Tickets are $9 for adults, $8 for seniors 60+ and $7 for ages 2-11. Genesee County Residents are $3 per person.
April 15
Learn about the history of the Detroit River and our Great Lakes at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle. Pack a picnic and eat and play after! FREE to visit; Michigan Recreation Passport required to enter the island.
April 16
Greenfield Village opens on this day! Visit for the ultimate educational field trip. This year, adults are $30, youth and senior are $27, and children 4 and under are free.
April 17

Plan a visit to get cotton candy at Spun Sugar Sweet Shoppe in South Lyon because life is too short to not make it sweet 😉
April 19
Head to Impression 5 in Lansing for their Wild Kratts exhibit, which is on display through May 29. Admission is $12 for adults and children ages 2+, $10.50 for seniors and military members {and immediate family} and $2 with the Museums for All program, which admits guests with a valid ID and EBT, Medicaid or WIC card.

Visit a local storywalk trail, or head to the library for some fresh reads to take and enjoy outside in the sunshine! FREE to do.
April 21
With Earth Day tomorrow, make art out of recycled items. Think milk caps, bread ties, cardboard boxes, and more. One of our favorite things to do is recycle jars and turn them into art with Modge Podge and tissue paper in spring colors.
April 22

Today is National Picnic Day! Pack a picnic and visit a new park, or spread a blanket on the floor inside if it’s raining.
April 24
Head to the UofM Natural History Museum in Ann Arbor for a highlights tour. FREE.

Chalk your walk! Write inspirational quotes and draw happy pictures on your sidewalk to make neighbors walking by smile.
April 26
Visit the Cranbrook Gardens to walk the property and see what is starting to bloom. Then, visit later in the summer for a stunning display of color. FREE to visit.
April 27
Visit a new hiking trail. Here are 30+ family-friendly loop trails in Southeast Michigan.
April 28
Celebrate National Stop Food Waste Day by using up leftovers or try a recipe using items you find in your fridge that may be close to expiration. If you have older kids, empower them to try to cook something with items you have on hand. {We also love composting. See if your city sells larger composters!}
April 29
Get a head start to summer and nab the supplies to make one of these personalized tie-dye towels.
April 30
Visit Heritage Park Petting Farm in Taylor for pony rides, farm animals and more. Tickets are required for adults and children at $5 each, and ages 1 & under are free.
