One of my favorite things about Twitter: sometimes, if you’re vocal, a big company will listen to you.
About a month ago, Dominique over at Midwest Guest, started a Twitter conversation about the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile, citing a great post she wrote awhile back about it. Pretty soon there was a group of gals including myself, Elena of Mommy Is In Timeout and Becks from Detroit Moxie chiming in to make a plea for a future Detroit stop. I even tweeted to them that we would all blog and tweet them like mad if they came here.
And what do you know, ask and ye shall receive. THE WIENERMOBILE IS COMING TO DETROIT! How cool is that?
So, I’m holding true to my promise of tweeting and posting about this mega cool event, and Little K is giddy with excitement because she’s even going to get a ride in it…of course, safely locked in her carseat. Here are the deets:
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Wienermobile vehicle, Oscar Mayer is working with Chef Brian Perrone of Slows Bar BQ, to open a new “restaurant” in Detroit – the first-ever, special edition Wienermobile Food Truck. Perrone will jump on board to serve up FREE Oscar Mayer Selects Beef Franks to the first 1,000 people to join him in Rivard Plaza on Tuesday, June 21 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
If you’re not familiar, Rivard Plaza is located just northeast of the RenCen. I’d recommend parking in the GM surface lot or in any of the parking structures nearby.
I absolutely love anything Slows makes, so I’m also really excited that select toppings will be lovingly made by Chef Perrone as well.
This is a great event to have an excuse to come downtown with the kiddos, walk the beautiful RiverWalk, take a carousel ride and of course get a FREE taste of summer in the form of a delicious hot dog.
GIVEAWAY
Another mega bonus? The folks at Oscar Meyer are providing me with some amazing swag to giveaway to one of you lucky readers!
The prize pack is filled with T-shirts, coupons, a mini grill, apron, grilling accessories and the best parts in my opinion: a wiener whistle and a gift card to Slows Bar BQ in Detroit.
Because I love comments, I ask this of you: What is your favorite way to eat a hot dog? Leave a comment and be entered for a chance to win. Be sure to include your email, as that will be the way I notify the winner. Contest ends Tuesday at midnight EST.
Bonus entry if you give my new page a ‘like’ on Facebook!

So excited about this! Too bad I’ll have to miss the event because I’ll be confined to my cubicle. I’ll have to live vicariously through you and little K!
Mom used to always slice up hot dogs in our mac’n’cheese when we were younger- it was one of our many low-budget meals. I’d have to say that’s my favorite way to eat those hot diggity dogs!

I’m so excited about going to this! The kids are going to love the wienermobile. My favorite way for a hot dog is either just with ketchup or a chicago dog. Really, any way you make a hot dog is fantastic!

How exciting! I have always wanted to see the Weinermobile. I like my hot dogs with a little spicy mustard and ketchup.

My favorite way to eat a hot dog is sitting in the stands at a baseball game and washing it down with a nice (expensive) cold beer! I load my weiner with ketchup, mustard, onions and dill relish (has to be dill)! YUM 🙂

I’m not a huge fan of hot dogs, but I like mustard, mayo and relish when I do eat them.

Fun! I thought the Wienermobile was just at The Henry Ford! I like my hot dogs (preferably Hebrew National or Ball Park Beef) in a bun, with mustard and diced onions! 🙂
Maybe we’ll see you and the family next time we visit St. A’s! 🙂

the best way is grilled over a bonfire, stars up above. Any toppings will do.

Detroit-style is the only way to go! Chili, onions and mustard (I wouldn’t hate a little dill relish either) P.S. can’t wait for tomorrow 🙂
