Mmmm…nothing says summer like a cool cocktail – especially when you’re not pregnant (yet!). Watch my video below to learn how to make an easy drink I think I invented and dubbed the Marilyn Monroe. Let’s just say it’s an adult spin on a kid classic. This video is intended for those 21+. ((And don’t you like the subtitle it froze on? I promise it’s a tasty drink!))
Want to vlog?! Give it a shot and link up with the fab ladies at Mommy Is In Timeout, My Time as Mom and Mommy Monologues.

I need to try that drink. I loved shirley temple’s as a kid! I like how you rocked it out at the end. I love your Michigan mentions that you always give. Such a good homie! Peninsula Cellars is one of my fave wineries up north – but I’m an Old School Red fan. I like Detention, but OSR is usually what I grab. The Detention bottle always makes me laugh. It would be a good decoration for my classroom if it wasn’t a wine bottle and all. 😉
Mrs. Weber says
It would be good! I love all Traverse City wines, really, but Detention rates highly!
Anne says
That looks delish! I’m going to have to try this one out and soon! A Shirley Temple with a twist.. who knew.. add some vodka…and you’ll be begging for “A Little Bit More”!
Mrs. Weber says
You know it! It’s tasty stuff for sure.
Kimberly says
I love Shirley Temples so I definitely have to try this! Loved the rocking out at the end!
Mrs. Weber says
Thanks, lady! I also enjoyed your mojito – looked delish.
Kate says
We call “pop” in the south coke, yes, even if it’s sprite, dr. pepper, mtn dew, etc. It’s all coke!
This drink sounds yum & I’m not a vodka drinker!
Mrs. Weber says
That always blows my mind. Do you say I’d like a “Sprite Coke” then? I just love you crazy southerners 😉
Christine says
It looked like you did most of that in one take. Or you possess some mad editing skillz. Either way that is seriously impressive. Faygo is an AWESOME name for a soda. I wish we had that here. I agree that you invented this drink. Thanks for sharing.
Mrs. Weber says
I had to do it mostly in one take…I had dinner cooking and the baby was about to get hungry! 😉
Dianna says
Cute vlog!
Since I’m a tee-totaler, I won’t be trying this, but I loved watching you make it!
Mrs. Weber says
Well, it tastes just as good without the vodka 🙂
Sarshie says
I love that you used the Aussie shot glass that Lyndsey brought back from Australia for us 🙂
Yum… I want to have some summer cocktails with you on your patio soon!
Mrs. Weber says
You are so observant! Yes, that shot glass is one of my favorites 🙂 Not that I do any shots these days! C’mon over anytime and I’ll make you a cocktail!
Amy says
The only problem with this drink is the kids mixing up which one is Shirley and which one is Marilyn! HA!
Looks great I will be trying it out!
Mrs. Weber says
That’s true…maybe use different color straws to tell the difference?
Jessica says
I haven’t had a Shirley Temple since I was a kid. But adding vodka to it sounds like a great idea to me.
I hope you didn’t really dump the rest of the drink down the drain. That would be tragic.
Mrs. Weber says
Not entirely…I’m still nursing though, so I didn’t want to drink too much before the baby needed to be fed 😉
Dana K says
LOL this is an actual drink – the name is Shirley Temple of Doom.
Marilyn Monroe is bit classier. I used to make it with sprite flavored Coke. 😉
Mrs. Weber says
I figured someone would know if there’s a real name – that’s awesome! I also like that name. And Sprite flavored Coke? That just sounds odd to this Yankee 😉
Amanda says
I remember back in the day when we’d have all you can drink night at the bar for $5 and some dumbasses would get Shirley Temples…they should have added the vodka! Looks really great…and btw, I call it pop too. I’m from West Virginia originally and now in Florida..and people down here are soda this and soda that.
Mrs. Weber says
Wow, I definitely would’ve thought you’d be a soda girl. Glad there’s some sense in the south 😉 And yes, the vodka addition makes the drink much more fun!
Angela Hernandez says
lol Lauren I love you and will definitely be trying this. Glad to see you’re getting good use of your Macbook/iMovie too! xoxo
Mrs. Weber says
I am getting great use out of the Mac! Although I still have so much to learn. If you ever want to get together, we can sip some of these and you can teach me 😉
Sean says
I get Shirley Temples for my 4 yo all the time. She loves that they are pink! This sounds delicious and I’ll definitely try it with some kind of coke. Yes, coke means any kind of carbonated beverage here in Texas. 🙂
Mrs. Weber says
Love it! Enjoy it with Coke…er, some kind of Coke!
Galit Breen says
Yum! So yum and I adore the name !
Also- we say soda. I just can’t do pop. Forgive me, mmkay?
Love the rockin out! Pure adorable! 🙂
Mrs. Weber says
Thanks, Galit! I’ll forgive you…this time 😉
Teresa says
Pop! LOL! I call it soda, but I love when ppl say pop. Great vlog, looks like a drink I would definitely enjoy.
Mrs. Weber says
Thanks, Teresa. It is seriously delish.
Jackie says
All these tasty summer drinks! When am I ever going to be able to try them all…. maybe we should have another gathering of all the Michigan bloggers!!
Mrs. Weber says
That is a FAB idea! BBQ at your place? 😉
