To my little gals,
The moment I heard I was having a second girl, my heart skipped a beat and my eyes filled with tears. I was absolutely ecstatic because I was finally going to witness what I myself have missed out on having: Sisters…22 months apart.
I watch my girlfriends with sisters and fall in love with many of their relationships: The sister to borrow clothes from; to share gossip with; to call first with news — good and bad — and in many cases, an automatic maid of honor when wedding time hits. Some relationships I’ve witnessed are close, some not at all. I pray every single day you two are of the close variety, but I know that’s something you will both have to work on to maintain.
No matter how your relationship forms, please know you are LUCKY. I would’ve given my right leg up as a little gal to have a sister close to my age. Brothers are fantastic and have great purposes for many reasons, but I envision it to be a different relationship than between two girls, because let’s face it: Girls talk.
I have many hopes for you…
I hope you talk about everything and find comfort in each other’s words, emotions and laughter.
I hope you open each other’s eyes to different viewpoints and explore things you question together.
I hope you both understand family comes first, no matter what and to never turn your back on your blood.
I hope you treat each other with respect, love and kindness — and always come to each other’s defense when others are cruel.
I hope you cherish each other as much as I know I will cherish you both.
I can’t wait to see how your bond forms over time.

Aw, I, too, hope your girls are best friends all through life! I had two sisters: they were 15 and 16 when I was born. So needless to say, as I was growing up, we weren’t really close. I felt as though their children were my sisters and brothers!
My sister, who is 23 months younger than me, IS my best friend.
We’ve had some massive fights & fallouts, gone through periods where we didn’t talk – but really, she’s my soulmate in many ways. I cannot imagine life without her.
Your girls WILL be the best of friends and they will always be there for each other.

I always wished that I had a sister, too 🙁 Reading this makes me almost want to have another baby so that Baby M will have a sister, if only it were that simple!
I actually have 3 sisters and I have 4 brothers.. And yeah, we are a big family.. It is happy and very noisy family but I won’t have a big family like us soon..
My sister is my best friend even though she lives in another state. I really don’t know what I would do without her… there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t talk to her!
