Last week we had the honor of attending a super fun event for bloggers at Castaway Bay, located just southeast of us in Sandusky, Ohio {aka the home of Cedar Point!}. This was extra special because it was the first time we had ever stayed at a hotel with the kids. We were also excited to be heading to 82 degrees while it snowed like crazy here in Michigan!
From our home in Howell {between Detroit and Lansing}, it was just about a 2½ hour drive, which was the perfect amount of time for our kiddos to be in the car. We timed it so we would head out at nap time, and thankfully both gals fell asleep and stayed asleep for most of the ride.
We all grew excited as we approached the hotel. Kinley quickly observed the giant slides going outside the building. Once we were checked in, we wasted no time in heading to the water park. Kinley loves the water, and we had been talking it up for weeks. She didn’t even know what to think once we got inside — it was so colorful and fun!
We hung out with both kiddos in the toddler pool area before Kinley got adventurous and wanted to head to the wave pool and super sweet Lookout Lagoon Family Funhouse. She had a ball exploring…and trying to avoid getting water dumped on her head {totally inevitable}. We were impressed with her bravery! Unfortunately she was too little to go on the water slides, but that didn’t stop this mama 😉 I went on them while the hubby watched the kiddos and man! They were so.much.FUN!
Not so sure about the giant shark hanging from the ceiling…But by day #2, she loved it!
Karina looked so adorbs in her little suit! Hopefully this little adventure will get her excited for becoming a water baby this summer!
That evening, we attended a blogger dinner and events made for our families, where we were able to decorate cookies and color a towel with fabric markers. Castaway sure knows how to entertain kiddos! We even were able to meet the resort’s mascot — SNOOPY!
Classic family photo where the kids aren’t looking…
I think that was the highlight of Kinley’s night. Well that, the arcade where she pushed all the buttons, and like any kid — jumping on the hotel bed! Seriously, how do kids just know they can do this while not at home? Nothing like partying it up at a hotel – toddler-style, complete with a bag of veggie straws. WOOT.
They say traveling with little ones is torturous. Of course packing up a gazillion diapers, snacks, and more can seem like a daunting task, but the pure joy on their faces was worth it. We will definitely be visiting Castaway Bay again in the future.
A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Castaway Bay and the PR rock stars at Thundertech for the complimentary stay and planning of activities. We loved it!
Now for the fun part for ya’ll: A GIVEAWAY! I would take my two kids and maybe niece or one of my kids friends. We so want this! I’m a single mom and my kids are dying for a vacation somewhere other than up north. Being a single mom makes vacations other than to family cottage next to impossible. Good luck to everyone!
