Holy smokes. I am 30 weeks along with my 3rd child and turning 30 in a couple of weeks. What has my life become?! Regardless of what I thought my life would look like {umm, not even starting to have kids until 30!}, I have to say it has turned out way cooler than I ever imagined. I’m glad reality can be better, and more fun than your dreams at times.
Yet, truth be told, the past few weeks have been rough. My body is telling me it has had enough between back pain, leg aches from my varicose veins, and my pelvic bone hurting from pressure. I had forgotten about these lovely things until now. Thankfully these are very minor issues, but it’s all there…Especially because I am constantly on the move and lifting two little people.
Regardless of the aches and pains, there has been plenty of positives as well. I am getting sooooo excited to meet my little man. I still keep playing the sound of the ultrasound tech telling me I’m having a boy over and over in my head. I’m beyond thrilled to be having a boy and just know he will complete our family.
With that said, I’ve been getting LOTS of boy advice from people. “Boys are so tiring,” “Boys are dirty,” “Boys love to talk about poop.”
Having two older brothers and three nephews have helped me out, yet, I am curious to see the differences myself. {All the strangers saying “Boys are easier than girls” — I am thankful for you!}
Lately, the neatest part has been talking to my girls about their baby brother. Karina {not quite two-years-old} doesn’t fully understand of course, but she loves giving my belly kisses and carrying her little baby around and tucking him into her crib at night. She has had some jealousy when I hold friend’s babies, so that could be interesting, but she is very curious about babies, so I’m hoping once the initial shock wears off, she’ll be excited to help out!
On the other hand, Kinley {3.5-years-old} totally gets it…Except the whole coming out part. She keeps asking if he can just come out for a few minutes so she can see him, and every time I go to the doctor, she requests he be taken out. She asks how he will come out often, and I keep it generic. No need to go into detail quite yet! We have rented quite a few books from the library, so that has been helpful. Also, she has never been into dolls either until now. She carries her baby boy around everywhere and puts diapers on him and clothing {from her baby brother’s drawers}. Seeing her so excited has made my heart swell. She’s going to be an awesome helper!
Kinley nursing her baby just like mama!
On the nursery front, the room has been painted and some fun things purchased, but we still have a ways to go. I’m hoping to purchase another crib in a few weeks {Karina isn’t ready to give hers up} and get everything put together and ready to rock in the next month. At 34 weeks, I have an ultrasound to see where my placenta is {it was blocking my cervix at 18 weeks}, which will determine how I deliver. I’m also curious to see how big this baby is getting since I have a track record of large babies! Crossing my fingers he’s smaller, but realistically know he very well may be bigger. Eeek! I *think* I am fairly mentally prepared for all situations, and am comfortable just leaving my birth plan in my midwife and God’s hands. I just keep chanting “I’m a woman and my body is capable of amazing things,” over and over!
Cheers to the next 10 weeks {give or take}! Stay tuned and get excited…Baby boy will be here soon!
Do you have any ideas on other ways I can prepare my other children for baby? Please share!

Yay, you’re so close. I’m praying for your placenta previa to have cleared up. Mine is gone thank goodness.

Kinley has a great example of a caring mama before her eyes. Yeah, women’s bodies are capable of amazing things. Good bless you. Everything will be alright.
