One of the questions I get often from readers is how to save money on admission to local attractions. We are so lucky to have many wonderful programs for families to save money including the Michigan Activity Pass, Healthy Blue Xtras, and more. Another program I have recently learned about is The D Discount Pass.
Created by the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau {Visit Detroit}, The D Discount Pass is a downloadable pass designed to help save money at metro detroit attractions and gift shop purchases. Participants include:
Arab American National Museum, 20 percent off admission
Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, 20 percent off gift shop purchases
Edsel & Eleanor Ford House, buy one admission, get one free
Ford Piquette Avenue Plant, 20 percent off admission
The Henry Ford, 20 percent off admission
Michigan Science Center, 20 percent off admission
Motown Museum, 20 percent off admission
SEA LIFE Michigan Aquarium, 20 percent off admission
This pass, valid for one person per visit, can be used multiple times for the duration of 2015. To take advantage, go to visitdetroit.com/discount and complete a brief online form to download The D Discount Pass barcode via a mobile device, email or printed voucher.
To apply the discount, simply show The D Discount Pass barcode to staff at the time of purchase.
To view program details, go to visitdetroit.com/discount.
Where are your favorite spots to nab discounts to local attractions? Let me know!

Ooh, I see that the new Sea Life is on there! Thanks.

Yes Liz, SEALIFE Michigan was eager to be part of this program. The D Discount Pass is taking off and we are adding new members in phases. Many of metro Detroit’s best attractions have joined in on the effort to provide this discount to visitors and hope they will discover Detroit, the Comeback City.
We hope you’ll visit and experience The D for yourself. If you visit and take pictures of your experiences, tag them with #DepictTheD for a chance to be featured on our social channels.
