I was compensated with tickets for the post below. I LOVE this show and am so thrilled to support it!
Have you ever heard of the live show Listen To Your Mother? Maybe you haven’t, but let me tell you — it’s a concept that rocks for empowering storytellers to talk about any aspect of motherhood — whether you are a mother, want to be a mother, or just want to share about a mother you adore.
This production is dubbed a show to give “Mother’s Day a microphone,” and will be in Detroit at Saint Andrews Hall on April 30, 2017 at 2 p.m., and you won’t want to miss out, especially because it may be the show’s last season.
Why Attend Listen To Your Mother?
Do you ever read a story from a blogger or author and it just resonates with you, maybe for months after? LTYM is an opportunity for local women to share their stories about motherhood in front of a live audience. It’s extremely brave, and it’s an event where you will walk away feeling inspired and encouraged.
My mom and I had the opportunity to attend the show last year and we were blown away with the stories told. We laughed, we cried, we celebrated, and with each story, we felt bonded to the women presenting to us. I can’t wait to hear what the cast shares this year. I will have plenty of Kleenex on hand in case 😉

For the Detroit show, 11 women, plus co-directors Angela Amman and Angela Youngblood — will be sharing their own stories from the trenches of motherhood. Learn about the cast here.
About Listen To Your Mother
The mission of each Listen To Your Mother production is to take the audience on a well-crafted journey that celebrates and validates mothering in all of its complexity, diversity, and humor–in the form of original readings performed live on stage by their authors.
Each LTYM show donates a minimum of 10 percent of ticket proceeds to a local cause. The Detroit show benefits Cass Community Social Services, a Detroit-based agency dedicated to providing food, housing, health services, and job programs.

I would bring my mom, of course!
I’m not sure who I’d bring – but I’d love to see the show! A dear friend of mine works closely with the one in Raleigh, NC.
