In case you missed the news, BJ’s Wholesale Club has finally arrived to Michigan. This East Coast-based chain has been popular for years elsewhere, and it’s finally our turn to shop the club’s smart saving products.
I enjoyed several differentiating factors that made this club unique to other warehouse clubs out there. It truly is a treasure hunt shopping at BJ’s, and I can’t wait to see what products they stock throughout the year!
A few of my favorite unexpected surprises:
Free In-Club Pick Up
Shoppers can stock up on their favorite items online and simply pick them up at a kiosk at the front of the club at their desired pick-up time, which can be as soon as two hours later. Such an awesome way to save time and extra money! BJ’s also has online ordering and quick shipping available too.
A Real Butcher Counter and Deli
Something that is unique to BJ’s is that you can have them cut your fresh meat to your own specifications. Choosing your own cuts and poundage can vary from week-to-week, so it’s nice to not always buy in bulk, but have that option if you’re planning a party. Also, there’s no need to wait in line for the deli — customers can just place their order on the app and pick it up once it’s ready.
Michigan Touches Throughout the Store
A feature I really loved about BJ’s is the Michigan touches they made throughout the club. Being an East Coast brand, I appreciated that they took the time to study our market. The club carries all kinds of Michigan sports gear and Michigan brands such as Founders, Griffin Claw, Biggby coffee, and more.
Fun Fact: They even changed the word ‘soda’ to pop on their snack menu board!
In the rotating area, they had a whole selection of ice fishing supplies, which clearly wouldn’t have been there if the store was in Florida. Each store is truly unique to its market.
A Snack Shop with $1 Treats
The snack shop is small but deliciously mighty. Shoppers can grab all kinds of treats for $1 or less, including hot dogs, big pretzels, a colossal cookie {!!}, popcorn and ICEEs. For just $1!!! Perfect treat for good shopping behavior while out with kids if you ask me 😉
Fantastic Selection of Shoes and Apparel
The apparel section was one of my favorite parts of the club. They had tons of jeans, pajamas, sportswear, and LOTS of different styles of boots and shoes for men, women, and children. Many of awesome brands we all know and love. The prices were fantastic, too!
Big Gas Savings
Not only are BJ’s gas prices among the lowest around, but if you purchase qualifying High-Octane items throughout the club {look for the icon}, each item brings an additional 10 cents off/gallon at BJ’s Gas pumps. This is such an easy way to save big!
PRO TIP: To get your price per gallon really low, stack gas savings earned over multiple shopping trips – then cash them in all at once before they expire at the end of the month.
Stack Savings With Coupons and Save BIG
BJ’s beats supermarket prices on national brands every day, saving families 25 perfect off grocery store prices before coupons. Pair savings with coupons for even more savings. BJ’s is the only warehouse club that accepts all manufacturers’ coupons, plus members can add coupons to their membership card from the BJ’s app or online.

I joined the Madison Heights location tonight, thanks for all the info! I couldn’t pass up that pay $55, get a $35 gift card deal.
I wasn’t aware of the in store pickup, that’s a great perk. The inexpensive gas was definitely one of the reasons I joined too. I live about 15 mins from the MH location.
