There is no doubt that Covid-19 has been tough on all of us this year…We’ve all missed out on so many events and celebrations. But the silver lining is that we’ve spent more time than ever enjoying the great outdoors!
One of our favorite spots to head to enjoy the beauty of all the seasons is the Huron-Clinton Metroparks. In fact, I often say purchasing our annual pass each year is some of the best money we spend! A pass would make a perfect gift for a family too.
Here are 8 Reasons To Love Huron-Clinton Metroparks:
Hiking
Each of the 13 Metroparks has something to offer when it comes to hiking. We love shorter loop trails with the kids, but I’d love to tackle some of the longer trails this year as well.
Disc Golfing
We have disc golfed more this year than ever before. It’s a great date! It’s inexpensive, fun, and a great way to enjoy nice weather. The Metroparks have four excellent courses. They do cost a little extra {$3 for a daily wristband}, but it’s worth the cost since the courses are well maintained {which is ideal for someone like me who loses discs often!}.
In addition to disc golfing, the Lake St. Clair Metropark offers FootGolf, and eight of the parks offer regular golf for great rates too.
Activities for Every Season
From hayrides and pumpkin patches to tobogganing and cross country skiing, the Metroparks truly have something for families in every season. In summer, we love the beaches, waterparks, and boat rentals too!
Plenty of Space To Roam
Never be discouraged from full parking lots — each of the parks has plenty of space to roam! In fact, they encompass 25,000 acres across all the parks. There is plenty to explore and see.
Loads of Events
There is always something happening at the Metroparks! From farm-centered programming to volunteer opportunities to assist with conservation, there is something for all ages. Check out the calendar here. {There is even great outdoor happenings during this season}
Birding
If you want to feel like a Disney princess experiencing how magical animals can be, look no further than the Chickadee trail near the Nature Center at Kensington. This spot is famous for its amazing birding. It’s a great opportunity to learn about these beautiful creatures. {Just do not feed the cranes!}
Biking
Each of the 13 parks offers biking and mountain biking opportunities, and with trails of varying distances. Check out bike trails here. When I was younger, I enjoyed rollerblading on the paved paths, too.
Annual Pass
I love having the option to purchase an annual pass, which pays for itself in just four visits. Right now you can purchase the pass at a discounted rate of $35 for residents of the 5 counties the parks serve or $40 for non-residents. Rates will increase $5 starting in January. {Discounted rate for those age 62 and up too!}

I outlined my favorite features of the parks, but there is PLENTY more to enjoy. Head fishing or boating, admire farm animals and more. See all activities available here and follow Huron-Clinton Metroparks on Facebook. Instagram, Twitter and YouTube for updates and events.

We are in Willow Metro Park at least 5 days a week, sometimes multiple times a day. Our kids have a lot of their sports held there. We love running and biking the big loop, about 3 1/2 miles.
I cant wait to explore more of Lower Huron MP too. Ive gone thru the entrance a couple times but never around to enjoy the nature.
