Who is ready for the apple harvest here in Michigan? The time is NOW…or soon, depending on which one you love the most!
Each season, our family looks forward to apple picking. In fact, Michigan’s climate is ideal for growing apples, and make up the most valuable fruit crop in Michigan. Apples truly are a big deal in Michigan, which ranks third in the U.S. for apple production just behind Washington and New York.
There are more than 11.3 million apple trees in commercial production, covering 34,500 acres on 775 family-run farms in Michigan. The truly make a difference when it comes to our agricultural impact!
Also, apples truly are the perfect snack — they’re portable, healthy, and take a long time to go bad. What more can you ask for?
The season is just kicking off here in Michigan, and tons of varieties will be making their way to farmers’ markets and grocery stores soon.
The season will kick-off with McIntosh and eventually get all the way to Cripps Pink, so make sure to mark your calendar with approximate dates for your favorites!

FYI…The Frosty Apple Orchard (Dexter) website says they do not offer u-pick.
