Have you ever done an escape room? If you love games and puzzles, I cannot recommend doing one of these more. They are SO fun, and great for a unique night out!
We recently visited Escape Room Novi, however, there is a brand new location in Brighton as well! This Michigan-based business has been booked solid for months, and for good reason — not only is it a ton of fun, but with all the rooms private, it’s a pandemic-friendly choice for friends who are ready to gather a bit.

BOOKING An ESCAPE ROOM:
It’s easy to book an experience at Escape Room Novi:
- Go to their website and look through the rooms available to choose what experience you’d like
- Book and pay {games are for 2-8 players. The more you have, the easier it will be. If you have a larger group, you can choose two different rooms and race each other.}
- Arrive a few minutes early to prepare for your game.
- The room moderator will go over rules and set the clock for 60 minutes.
- Dig around the room for clues — look for patterns, numbers, puzzles, etc. Ask for a clue if you truly get stuck. Each round has three clues available; you just need to ask on an intercom inside the room.
- Have fun!
ABOUT OUR EXPERIENCE
On our visit to Escape Room Novi, we had a blast solving the room we were in, which was called “The Blind Tiger Speakeasy.” We had a group of six, which felt perfect, though rooms fit up to eight players.

The thought that goes into each and every item in the room is incredible. The props, names of characters and small details make it feel like a real like game of clue.
Not to mention all the special effects! Between lights, noises, and ambiance, it’s a neat experience. It’s pretty cool to solve a part of the puzzle and have a door in another part of the room pop open too — we may have jumped a few times!

We did manage to escape with 7:51 minutes left on the clock. We had a few fantastic thinkers in our group for sure that helped a lot. I like to say my brain isn’t super cut out for this kind of thinking, but I always have a blast trying and will definitely be back for more in the future.
After our escape room adventure, we walked over for dinner and drinks at one of the restaurants in the plaza. Walkable spots include Bar Louie, Black Rock, Buffalo Wild Wings, Beer Head Bar & Eatery, and Buddy’s Pizza. My kids also love doing glow putt-putt golf at The Putting Edge. It’s such a great plaza full of fun, so it’s a great destination for couples and families.
Overall, I can’t recommend this for a group date or night out with older kids enough. We had a blast!
ABOUT ESCAPE ROOM NOVI
Escape Room Novi currently has nine active rooms. These are booked as private events so you will not be paired with strangers.
Currently rooms are:
- Pirates of the Sea {kid-friendly and easy}
- Neverland {kid-friendly but moderate}
- The Gate
- Elevator {mini game}
- The Great Highway Robbery
- The Bunker {mini game}
- Speakeasy
- Illusionist
- Cabin in the Woods
Pirates of the Sea is suggested for ages 10 and up. We actually booked this for my daughter’s ninth birthday and the kids all absolutely loved it! {They got a few more hints along the way, so that helped them get out!}. I was able to go into the room with them but did not help along the way.
Most of the rooms are labeled as moderate, and there is one hard room — Cabin in the Woods, which we were told is quite spooky.
The newest room, Neverland, truly looks like a dream and has more special effects than ever. You start the game in Wendy’s bedroom and go from there. It looks like a great one to do as a family with older kids.

They have a few “mini” escape rooms too — The Hot Scene, Elevator, and The Bunker. These games are just $5-$10/person and take 5-15 minutes to complete.
Additionally, they have a few mobile escape experiences as well, which would be perfect for a birthday party or team building activity with your office.
With the holidays just around the corner, I definitely want to mention that they have gift certificates available as well. This would make a fantastic family gift for those with older kids or teens!

I think it would be fun for my family and I to start with an easy one like Pirates of the Sea and then work our way up to more challenging ones…
