One of my favorite websites to check out as I gear up for summer fun is Michigan Activity Pass. The Michigan Activity Pass (MAP) is a statewide collaborative program between Michigan’s public libraries and participating partner destinations. MAP provides Michigan library cardholders the opportunity to discover and learn more about participating cultural destinations, parks, campgrounds, and recreation areas in the state at a discounted rate.
It is such a great resource for families looking for budget-friendly fun! Definitely take a peek at the site often to see partners added, and check it out before traveling around the state. Lots of great savings are there!

How To Use The Michigan Activity Pass
- For starters, you need a library card. So if you don’t have one, head to your nearest library and nab one. While you’re there make sure to see what resources your library has — mine has games, puzzles, activity bags and plenty of great programming. Libraries are true community gems. Support yours!
- Visit http://michiganactivitypass.info
- Enter your library’s start location using your zip code.
- Select the button that corresponds with the max miles you want your search to cover.
- Refine your search as needed. You can search by all destinations or you can limit by subject.
- When you have selected the attraction you want to visit click on the more info button to see what the offer is. Otherwise, hit the “Get Pass” button.
- Click on “Get Pass” to begin the reservation process.
- Fill out your name, phone number, email address and library card number fields.
- In order to utilize the mobile pass feature, you must select either the “24 hours before”, ”48 hours before” or “1 week before” option from the “Send email reminder” drop down menu. If one of those options is not selected the user will not receive a confirmation email/mobile pass.
- Click on the “Submit this Request” button to finalize the reservation.
- Show your pass when you arrive at your destination!
3 important things to note from the MAP team:
1. Patrons may check out one MAP pass per library card every 7 days.
2. When you check out a MAP pass, you have 7 days from the date it was reserved to use it.
3. Prior to your visit, make sure to check the museum’s website in order to verify hours of operation, etc.
That’s it! Have fun on your adventure while potentially saving your family some moula!
