I’ll admit – I love doing crafts with my kids. It allows me to get creative, but more importantly, they LOVE it. Seriously, my girls could create for hours if given enough supplies! In fact, most of their Christmas gifts are craft supplies. Bonus since our little projects tend to keep them messy busy while I do things for work 😉
We do a lot of crafts with wine corks because, well, mama loves wine. Also, they are super easy for them to hold. We recently decorated some Christmas trees using festive paints. I love simple projects like this to help them with colors, cutting {well, the 4-year-old} and getting creative.
All you need is some construction paper, corks and washable paint. {We love these Crayola washable paints!} Easy as pie.
Paper plates help make clean-up a cinch! I also cover our table with a plastic table cloth we use just for crafting.
Then, let the kids go to town. For bigger kids, cutting out a Christmas tree is the perfect challenge. I never knew how tricky cutting is until I started volunteering at my daughter’s school. It’s a skill us adults take for granted 😉 The lines of the tree seemed relatively easy for her to follow, and I came in after to even it out a bit.
The next skill they got to practice with this craft is glueing. My kids are GLUE NUTS. Which I hear is a good thing, since those “squeeze” skills are great for their motor development.
Even Superman enjoys painting!
The 2-year-old wanted red snow. Who am I to judge? Create away, baby girl!
Overall, we had a good time and now have some fun decor to hang up.
What are your favorite simple holiday-inspired kid crafts? We’ll be doing a few this week and I would love ideas!
