If you love games and puzzles, I cannot recommend doing an escape room enough. They are SO fun, and great for a unique night out with other couples or as a family.
Our family of five recently went to Escape Room Novi, however, there is location in Brighton as well that has different rooms. We love both locations!
I love the Novi one because it is near tons of great restaurants and other fun inside the Twelve Mile Crossing at Fountain Walk.
Our Experience at Escape Room Novi Neverland
On our visit, we checked out the Neverland room — which is rated 3/5 difficulty that can easily be done with older kids. For reference, my kids are 10, 13 and 14. We started doing these when my youngest was 8 years old.
Rooms can fit up to 8 players, and while this one was do-able with 5, but I always say, the more, the merrier! It would be super fun to add in grandparents or aunts and uncles too.
Upon entering the room, we were instantly transported into a unique space that makes you feel like you’re in the Neverland.
Our journey began in the children’s bedroom, and then we were transported to Neverland and finally to Captain Hook’s ship.
Our 60-minute timer began promptly after a short video highlighting what the puzzle was about. Our end-goal was to go through a series of challenges in order to help the children escape Captain Hook.
The thought that goes into each and every item in the room is incredible. The props and small details make it feel like a real like game of clue.
In this room, I especially loved the magic the fairies bring, and Captain Hook’s ship.
Not to mention all the special effects…Between lights, noises and ambiance, it’s a neat experience. It’s pretty cool to solve a part of the puzzle and have a door or drawer open in another part of the room. I wish I could share all the hidden surprises, but I wouldn’t want to spoil the fun!
With a handful of helpful hints along the way, we managed to escape with 8 minutes left on the clock and just a few hints along the way. I loved how our family banded together in a great display of teamwork because we needed every person contributing to make it happen!
Booking an Experience
It’s easy to book an experience at Escape Room Novi:
- Go to their website and look through the rooms available to choose what experience you’d like
- Book and pay {games are for 2-8 players. The more you have, the easier it will be. If you have a larger group, you can choose two different rooms and race each other.}
- Arrive a few minutes early to prepare for your game.
- The room moderator will go over rules and set the clock for 60 minutes.
- Dig around the room for clues — look for patterns, numbers, puzzles, etc. Ask for a clue if you truly get stuck; you just need to ask on an intercom inside the room.
- Have fun!
Local Spots Nearby
Walkable spots for some food include Bar Louie, Black Rock, Beer Head Bar & Eatery, Buddy’s Pizza, and HUB Stadium. We also love doing glow putt-putt golf at The Putting Edge. It’s such a great plaza full of fun, so it’s a great destination for couples and families.
