June is such an incredible month…Flowers blooming, strawberries in-season, and school is typically OUT for summer, whether that is a good thing or a bad thing in your house 😉
We are looking forward to kicking off our 2025 summer bucket list and planning plenty of fun to keep us busy in between the lazy days.

- If you haven’t done so already, create a summer bucket list of things you’d like to do.
- Check your local library’s calendar for events you may want to attend. Remember, you can visit other libraries for events too.
- Keep up with summer reading by seeing what challenges your library offers, checking out a local StoryWalk trail, or visiting a Little Free Library for some new reads. {Can you tell literacy is my passion?}
- Be on the lookout for plenty of local festivals…There are too many to include here!
- Make sure you have signed up for Kids Bowl Free. Such a great way to keep kids ages 12 and under busy this summer, especially on rainy days.
Things To Do In June 2025 In Southeast Michigan
June 1
- Check out a local Farmer’s Market.
- Head to the Michigan History Center in Lansing. It’s FREE every Sunday from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
- Head to a Lansing Lugnuts game {or another minor league game with inexpensive tickets!}. Every Sunday is a Kids Day, with inflatables and more.
June 2
- Pack a picnic to enjoy in a park.
- Grab timed tickets for the newly opened Legasea Aquarium in Utica. {We can’t wait to visit this!} $24.99/person.
June 3
It’s World Bicycle Day. Are you able to bike somewhere fun? This is the perfect day to ditch the car and rides bikes, even if it’s just for a loop in your neighborhood.
- Go to Silver Lake in Fenton for a free show from the Silver Lake Ski Club every Tuesday with a pre-show at 6:15 p.m. and the real show at 7 p.m. These are so fun to attend! Pack a picnic and enjoy the show. {$5 park entrance fee}
June 4
Strawberries should be ready soon, so make plans to head out to pick strawberries at a U-pick farm! We had a great experience at Diedrich’s in Webberville last season. Spicer’s in Fenton is another favorite.
June 5
Check out the amazing nature-inspired Alexandria’s Playscape at the Howell Nature Center. Just fair warning, bring a change of clothes in case kids get wet 😉 {Make sure to grab a Michigan Activity Pass for free entry too!}
June 6
- Register to attend Cranbrook Institute of Science’s FREE First Friday, and get admission from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Must register if you’re visiting after 5 p.m.
- Visit Bower’s School Farm in Bloomfield Hills for open barn from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. $10/person for ages 2 and up.
June 7
This day is National Donut Day. Need I say more?! Perfect reason to get out for a sweet treat and support a local bakery.
- It’s Michigan’s DNR FREE Fishing Weekend. All fishing license fees will be waived for two days. A Recreation Passport will NOT be required for entry into state parks and boating access sites either.
- Check out a FREE Kids’ Workshop at Home Depot. This month’s project is a baseball game. Learn more and register here.
- Visit the Flint Institute of Arts — it’s FREE every Saturday.
- Take a tour of the Fisher Building in Detroit with Pure Detroit. $15/person.
- Visit New Hudson for the International Kite Festival and see some beautiful kites soaring in the sky. Kids can even get a free kite.
- Head to the MSU Children’s Garden for a Garden Geocache event from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. $5/child. Learn more here.
- Visit the MSU Broad Art Museum in East Lansing for a FREE Family Fun Day from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Registration encouraged.
June 8
The weather should be perfect for raising butterflies at home. Grab an at-home science kit and watch metamorphosis happen right before your eyes!
June 9

June 10
- Visit The Railyard in Fenton for games and delicious food. {Such a great date night spot!}
- After, head to Silver Lake in Fenton for a free show from the Silver Lake Ski Club at 7 p.m. Pack a picnic and enjoy the show. {$5 park entrance fee}
June 11
Head to the Hamburg Family Fun Fest for some carnival fun. {We love this smaller carnival with lots of great events!}
June 12
Head to one of our favorite spots in Michigan — Sloan Museum of Discovery. After, catch a show at the Longway Planetarium. Grab combo tickets here.
June 13
Head to Ann Arbor now through June 29 for hundreds of performances at Ann Arbor’s Summer Festival. Such a great lineup for live music, kid crafts, movies and more.
June 14
- Check out Fun in the Ville in downtown Fowlerville for loads of kid’s activities. FREE.
- Visit JCPenney for their Kids Zone activity from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. This month is making a Father’s Day taco key chain. FREE.
June 15
Happy Father’s Day! Celebrate those dads in your life with some fun 🙂
- Potter Park Zoo in Lansing is FREE for dads on this day.
- Howell Nature Center is FREE for dads and grandpas on this day.
June 16
Head to MJR Theatres for their summer family film festival for $3. The movie this week is Shrek. Learn more.
June 17
- Head to the MSU Children’s Garden for a Fairy & Elves Garden Party event from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. $5/child. Learn more here.

June 18
Plan a road trip to Midland to visit Dow Gardens. It’s a beautiful place to spend an entire day!
June 19
Happy Juneteenth! Juneteenth, also known as “Emancipation Day” or “Freedom Day,” commemorates the ending of slavery in the United States. On June 17, 2021, Juneteenth was declared a National holiday Here’s a great video for kids.
June 20
Happy Summer Solstice! Do something special to celebrate or work with your family members to make a summertime playlist.
- Check out the Thunder Over Michigan Air Show at Willow Run Airport. Tickets start at $95/vehicle.
June 21
- Visit Lowe’s to make a FREE door knocker. Register here.

- Pack a picnic and visit Cranbrook Gardens and check out what’s in bloom — it’s free to visit! After, sneak over to the Cranbrook Art Museum’s artistically amazing putt-putt course. $15/adults, $8/child.
June 22
- If you are in need of a unique adventure, check out a local disc golfing course. Perfect to do as an inexpensive date night or with kids.
- Play FootGolf. Think golf with soccer balls. Great for older kids! See this list for local courses.
June 23
- Head to MJR Theatres for their summer family film festival for $3. The movie this week is The Bad Guys. Learn more.
- Check out a U-pick lavender farm! They should be starting to open at this time.
- Check out the fireworks in Detroit for an amazing display on the river. Details are here. FREE.

- Head to the MSU Children’s Garden for a Digger Day event from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. $5/child. Learn more here.
- Check out a $3 kids’ movie at Emagine Theatre locations. There is a new one each week, and there is FREE popcorn on Tuesdays for loyalty members. Check out this post for details.

Grab some tubes and head to Ann Arbor to tube the Argo Cascades. {Learn more here.}
June 26
- Let’s go to the zoo! A few unique ones we love include Potter Park Zoo in Lansing, Saginaw Children’s Zoo and the Wilderness Trails Zoo in Birch Run.
- Adventure over to the west side to visit Michigan Adventure for a fun day trip.
June 27
- Head to the MSU Children’s Garden for a Digger Day event from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. $5/child. Register here.
- Check out hot air balloons all weekend long at my favorite festival — the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest in Howell.
June 28
Visit German Park in Ann Arbor to enjoy German food and music. $10/person, children 12 and under are free.
June 29
- Head to Ann Arbor for a visit to the amazing and FREE University of Michigan Natural History Museum.
- Visit Upland Hills Farm in Oxford for their Summer Sundays program, which includes day access to the farm, hayrides, milking a cow, visiting all the animals, and playground access. $9/person; ages 2 and under are free.
June 30
Go creeking! Perfect way to cool off and discover nature. {We love playing in the river at Mill Creek Park North in Dexter and getting root beer floats at the old fashioned A&W drive-thru across the street!
